Zumurat-Ul-Islamiyyah Central Mosque, Akere, in Araromi community, played host to the annual fidau for late Alhaja Sariat Aduni Ayoola, mother of executive chairman in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola.
The special fidau, now in the fifth year, was attended by prominent personalities and politicians, business associates of the host and general public.
Like in the tradition of the annual event which began in 2017, Muslim teenagers from public and private schools across the local government were usually engaged in Qu’ranic competition, and with the final contestants, participating on the D-day of the fidau.
Prominent Islamic clerics, led by the Chief Imam of Ajegunle Central Mosque, Sheikh Shuaib Ilyas Bamidele, led other distinguished Islamic clerics across communities in the local government, to oversee the special prayer for late Alhaja Sariat Aduni Ayoola.
Echoing the sentiments from most of the clerics in attendance, it was suggested that the council chairman, Ayoola, set up an annual special prayer for his late father as well. This according to them would ensure parental parity among the living for future use.
The event which also witnessed large turn-out by different Islamic groups, especially women in their colourful dress uniform, were often outclassed by sectional groups from candidates of the All Progressives Congress {APC}, who appeared flambouyant in their colourful headgear and oversize ‘Danshiki’ outfit.
Speaking with journalist during the event, council mayor, Ayoola said the prayer, aside her mum was extended to all APC candidates vying for one office or the in Nigeria, especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ayoola noted that winners at the Qu’ranic competition were given N100,000. each among other consolation prizes that includes deep freezer, standing fan and power generator with other souvenirs.
In his words: “We’ve set up a foundation that will ensure each of the winners get N100,000 annually as part of scholarship scheme in order to encourage future participants.”
He said the annual prayer for his late mum was an indication of the sacrifice made by her mum, to ensuring he achieved greatness in life.
Ayoola urged other persons in attendance to emulate such as part of keeping the memories of their loved ones alive.
Nasirudeen Areef from Madrasat Nasiru deen, came first at the Qu'ranic competition, with other representatives from
Ajeromi Senior high school, and Madrasat Rif-atul Islamiyya, coming second and third respectively.
Some notable politicians and invited guests in attendance includes; Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Apex leader, representing Lagos-West Senatorial District for APC, former executive chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Shuaib Fatai Ajidagba, Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, APC candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Kamal Ayinde Bayewu, Chairman, Local Government Service Commision, Hon. Sobur Akanbi Oluwa, APC candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 2, the vice-chairman, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Hon. Lucky Uduikhue, representatives of the executive team in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, led by Alhaji Lukmon Jimoh, APC LGA chairman, Chief Sam Adeyemi, representatives of the Legislative team in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, representative of the management team in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, led by the Council Manager, Mr. Oloto, representatives of traditional rulers led by chief Salami Gbengbeleku, Ba’ale of Ajegunle, Community Development Committee representatives, representatives of South-South, representatives of Igbo community in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, led by Chief Nonso Akamigbo Papilo, representatives of Arewa community, Artisans, members of the Ayoola family, business associates, and the general public.
