Excerpt from my TedX Talk: How to Bloom When You’re Planted in Two Places ❤️

Thank you so much for the opportunity to articulate the journey I’ve been on for the past 4 years, TedX TSMU. 🙏

The full video is on the TedX YouTube page below, but unfortunately due to audio issues, the opening of my speech did not make it to YouTube! Essentially the just was this: I’m adopted from Georgia. This used to be a fun fact I would say growing up that lived in the back of my mind as a way to introduce myself to new groups of people, but I would otherwise think about it so infrequently that I almost forgot at times. However, over the last 4 years, what was once just a fun fact has now become a central part of my fun funky Georgian-American life. Something that is redefined my every move, giving me new purpose and has molded me into the most authentic confident version of myself.

The best birthday gift I could have ever imagined.

God has done it again — showing off His provision, His timing, and His tender love for our growing family 🇬🇪🇺🇸🥹

My brother has become a father.
— I’m crying all over again just writing this!!!!!!!!

During my birthday party, I found out that Baby Lilu was born — on June 13, 2025.
My birthday……
In Maryland…..where I was raised!!!!! 😭❤️🙏

We always joked that Tako and Lika are twins, and that me and Temo are too — and now, I literally share a birthday with his daughter. There is no denying —— this is God’s story!!!!!

When the Lord began to braid my Georgian and American worlds into one, I never could’ve imagined a moment like this. I now have two perfect nieces:
— One named after me, , thanks to my sister for the incredible honor .
— And one born on my birthday, this beautiful Lilu 🩵 birthday by God!!! She was late by Doctor’s standards!!!!

I was born in Georgia and raised in Maryland.
Lilu was born in Maryland and will be raised fully Georgian-American.
Tell me that’s not divine design!!!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this is a story only God could write.
I’m in awe. I’m undone. And I’m so grateful that Baby Lilu and her beautiful, strong mama .benji.basti are doing amazingly. 💗🙏 She’s a warrior!!!

Thank you Jesus. What a gift. What a God. As I was reading Psalms tonight, these verses truly struck me.

Thank You Lord for making us so wonderfully complex ❤️🥹

Happy Father’s Day, Papacita 💖 This year I’ve been reflecting so much on how incredible it is that my sweet parents flew to Tbilisi in 1996 to come get me — and how that must have just completely blown them away in SO many ways… I cannot even imagine what was going through their heads, but one thing I can say for certain - Flying to Tbilisi in 1996 and beyond - Daddykinz, you ALWAYS, to this day, push yourself outside of your comfort zone for me, and I appreciate it more than I could ever express. 🥹❤️ I love you so much. AND YOU TRULY SLAY, ICONICLY!!! PLEASE EVERYONE SHOUT HIM OUT BECAUSE HE HAS LOST 80 POUNDS THIS YEAR!!!! I’m sooooo proud of you HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!!!

So much more to come from here and Georgia in general!!! 🥹🩵 I loved this charming city!!! Getting to see where sooooooo many of my closest friends in New York are from was so special and getting to spend the day with and was EVERYTHING!!! 😍

I can see why you all love it soooo much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ what a beautiful place.. the word that comes to mind really is just CHARMING! It was so lovely!!!

And can I just say, once again, I’m struck by the beauty and mystique of Georgian churches and the beautiful places where they were constructed..🥹

The Lord truly took His time with all of Sakartvelo, and one thing that really struck me on THIS visit was this idea of Georgian beauty.

Georgia is known for being such a beautiful place in so many ways… clearly the land is beautiful, there are mountains, rivers, lakes, canyons, beaches… basically any where you go, you’re near some incredible NATURAL beauty. It’s as if this love for beauty is planted deep in the hearts of Georgian people and it blooms in every detail!! You see it in the preservation of ancient churches like this magnificent one in Kutaisi, but you see it in the way people present themselves too. always elegant, always intentional… (something I’ve always noticed — because Americans.. we really wear whatever and call it a day!! Especially for errands) There’s a sacred kind of beauty here… not just seen but truuuuly felt. ❤️ ughhh really thank You Jesus 🙏🥹💗

Taking a break from being a Tbilisi tourist today to lock IN 🔐

Tomorrow’s the day at ❤️🥹 What a whirlwind this has been… I WROTE A TED TALK! 🤯

Writing my story instead of video content around it was extremely cathartic for me, and the incredible team of curators at helped me to articulate exactly what I’ve been feeling for the last 4 years in a way that hopefully will resonate with others too. 🥹 I’m not gonna lie. I poured my heart into this. When I’m making videos, I still get to operate under the safety net of my bubbly personality. But writing everything made way for a very different tone. Way more personal. Raw. I cried so much when writing this… I actually couldn’t write for extended periods of time because I’d write, cry, write, cry, write, cry ( was my witness!) — and to deliver this talk in Georgia, while my siblings will be there, is just mind blowing. Look at God! 😭❤️

So excited for the world to hear “How to Bloom When You’re Planted in Two Places” — my journey of navigating dual identity.
