FOUR SUSPECTS FATALLY WOUNDED AFTER SHOOTOUT WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT IN RIVERLEA

In a operation involving SAPS Counter Intelligence Investigation Head Office, DPCI Gauteng Multi-Disciplinary Tracking Team, SAPS Gauteng TRT, SAPS Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations, Bad Boyz Security, and Tracker Connect, law enforcement acted on intelligence received about a group of suspects involved in retail store robberies, hijackings, and other violent crimes.

The information indicated that the suspects had recently committed an armed robbery at a store in the Johannesburg CBD. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle, a Kia Rio sedan fitted with false registration plates, travelling in Riverlea.

A high-speed chase ensued, which escalated into a shootout between the suspects and the officers. The confrontation resulted in four suspects being fatally wounded.

During the operation, police recovered unlicensed fi****ms and stock stolen from the store, including cellphones.

Major Police Operation in Joburg Nabs Over 1,000 Suspects, Including Illegal Immigrants and Violent Criminals

In a powerful show of police strength, the Johannesburg District Commissioner, Major General Nonhlanhla Kubheka, led a major high-density operation earlier today in Joe Slovo Road, Berea.

The operation, part of , focused on police visibility and working together with different law enforcement partners. At a roadblock, police arrested 82 illegal immigrants, one person with a stolen white Volkswagen Polo, one with an unlicensed firearm, and another for hiring an illegal immigrant.

In addition, overnight tracing operations by provincial detectives led to the arrest of 991 suspects. Out of these, 223 people were arrested for crimes against women and children.
