Make Your Ding I Save Old Objects
For a long time I have been fascinated by old everyday objects. Too bad to simply discard them and throw them away.

If these things could tell, then they would certainly have many exciting and moving stories to tell. These things were made a long time ago and are for various reasons so no longer have today. I have therefore made it my mission to restore (at least some of) these items as best I can. On this journey I will certainly learn a lot and also find out about myself and my abilities. You can also benefit

from this knowledge on my website and in my social media profiles. By profession, I am a social pedagogue and have been working with wood and restoration of old things for quite a while. My initial training as a painter and varnisher comes in handy here. In this apprenticeship I was able to learn a lot about wood preparation and coating. During my apprenticeship, sanding and polishing was honestly not my favorite work – I can now profit from the experience very well. If I can do it – so can you 🙂

Hello dear community,

I am very happy to introduce you to my next project.

I restored an old manual grindstone from Flott. The whetstone arrived in pretty bad condition, but I lovingly took it apart, cleaned it, restored it and reassembled it.

I can't wait to show you the finished result. The video editing will take a few more days.

Of course i am very happy about your comments and suggestions.

Be well and have a good new year.

Kind regards, Sascha

Breadslicer Brought Back to Life - Epic Restoration

In this video I show how I lovingly restore a very old bread slicer.

https://youtu.be/Sq9_FBpe1LE

I bought the bread slicer on an online exchange. I thought he was too good to stay in that state.

What impressed me is the quality of the cast iron frame of the bread slicer. It is very high quality and quite heavy.

During the restoration I used sandblasting, which I always find very nice and relaxing.

Again, I learned a lot while making the video, which I will incorporate into my next projects.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Greetings Sascha

Rusty to RADIANT! Restoration of a Vintage Bread Slicer [incl. STORY]

https://youtu.be/c_W6XARQxbk

I purchased this bread slicer through an online marketplace. This resulted in a nice contact with the saleswoman Annett.

Watch me restoring a rusty vintage bread slicer back to its radiant glory! This satisfying transformation will leave you amazed at the power of restoration.

This bread cutting machine is probably around 100 years old and was owned by the von Annett family. Thankfully, Annett told me some background information about this wonderful bread cutting machine, which I would like to share with you.

The story behind this bread slicer:
"The machine is from my grandparents and I have remembered the machine for as long as I can remember. I'm 50 years old and my grandma died this year at the age of 89 and my grandpa died last year at the age of 96.

So my grandparents are called Helga and Fritz and lived in Plauen in Vogtland. They married in 1953 and were married for 70 years before my grandpa died.

I remember that whenever my grandmother cut bread, the machine was taken out of the bottom of the kitchen cupboard, then attached to the worktop, the bread was taken out of the bread box and then it started. Wipe down afterwards and tidy up again.

I still see these images to this day. At the end of the 90s she got an electric one. Bought a food slicer and unfortunately the old bread machine ended up on the floor."

I look forward to your comments and comments. Just write me your thoughts in the comments.

Greetings Sascha

P.S.: Is there anything you would like to see restored? Then please let me know.

I bought the sewing box for two reasons.

Firstly, I wanted to give my daughter a present for Christmas because she loves sewing. On the other hand, working with Shellac has been on my to-do list for a long time. The sewing box was a great object for me to try out Shellac.

Unfortunately, the restoration didn't go the way I wanted the result to be.

Watch the video and see what went wrong. In any case, I will need more exercises with Shellac to perfect this technique.
Despite everything, I think the result itself is very successful and the surface looks really nice, but as I said, of course different than expected.

I welcome any comments or comments.

Watch full video here:

If you have any tips on how to paint Shellac covers, I would also be very grateful.

Take care, greetings Sascha

Old coffee grinder - restoration

I bought this old coffee grinder, probably around 80 years old, from an online flea market. I really liked the shape of the mill and decided to restore it.

When she arrived she was in very bad condition. It was completely stuck and the drawer couldn't be opened. The entire surface was covered with a coating of food grease and coffee residue. The metal was no longer visible and it was covered with a thick, greasy layer.

A main part of the work was cleaning the coffee grinder, which took a lot of time.

In this video I show you step by step how I did it and what I implemented. I hope I can make you happy with this video and give you some inspiration for your own projects.

I am of course very happy about suggestions and comments, as well as if you subscribe to my channel.

Restoration of a Rusty Old German Coffee Grinder - Full Restore

I recently bought an old coffee machine through an internet portal.

The coffee grinder was in very poor condition and was also missing parts:
- the brackets that hold the drawer for the coffee powder
- the drawer button

In addition, it was probably repeatedly repaired improperly and ultimately used as a decorative piece. That's why the flap or drawer was glued in.

I tried to restore the coffee grinder to its original condition with the restoration, including painting the metal bracket and the wooden body.

I really enjoyed the work and learned a lot from it.

I hope you enjoy the video and the restoration. I look forward to your comments and opinions.

Greetings Sascha :-)

My wife wanted to throw the machine away because the sealing ring no longer fit properly and the pot looked very shabby.

I, on the other hand, thought that the large pure aluminum jug was worth keeping and that it would be a shame to throw it away.

I also want to make an effort to repair everything and not just throw it away. So I cleaned and repaired it.

In the video you can see how I use different things on the pot. It is important that I only applied the polish to the outside so that the water that later comes into contact with the espresso does not come into contact with the cleaning paste.

If you have any suggestions or questions, I welcome comments or suggestions.

Important notice (thank you ): "make sure the pressure relief valve is working correctly [...]"

Take care of yourself.
Greetings, your Sascha

Restoration of an ancient cutting board

The next project that I have now implemented is restoring an ancient dough kneading / cutting board board. I got this board from a school I work at. This board should be thrown away because it was already too worn and broken. I thought to myself: "It's too bad to throw it away! I could try restoring it."

I have put a lot of effort into bringing this board back to life, which is really very beautiful and very functional. Take a look at a video and tell me what you think about whether I succeeded in the restoration or not. In any case, we will continue to use this board in our kitchen to make bread dough and for cutting. My wife will get it.

Great, your Sascha

I would like to show you my project: downsizing my own (real) workshop.

I started the project some time ago and put it off for a bit. Now I'm going to do it again and would like to show you how I do it in various videos.

The aim is to achieve an implementation that is as faithful as possible to 1:1. I'm sure it won't be easy, but I'll definitely learn a lot from it. Of course, by documenting the implementation I would also like to give you valuable tips and inspiration for your own ideas and projects.

I look forward to your questions and suggestions in the comments.

Subscribe to my channel and stay with it - watch my workshop progress further and further.

DIY Vintage Radio - Step by Step Creation Guide

https://youtu.be/Sl6zJlrw2Dc

After I created the retro TV from the 30s, I felt like building another old item. What could be more obvious than miniaturizing an old radio? I got inspiration from various videos. I found the idea of the piece of plastic on the display (from the Bentley House Minis video) very helpful - thank you for that.

For this project I used laser cutting of wood and cardboard and was also the first time I played with electrics. I tried to bring the radio to life a little better with an LED light.

The radio shown here is the second attempt - the first radio was clearly too narrow and without light (and that was definitely missing).

What have I learned:
- I would definitely like to optimize the live plug in the next project. A purchased miniature plug is out of the question.
- I also need to pay better attention to details - the buttons on the radio are a little too short.
- The laser cutter is a great and versatile device. It also cuts paper/cardboard excellently (I haven't tried that yet)
- Patience, patience, patience (I obviously need a little more of that)

I'm looking forward to the next project. What would you like to see miniaturized? Write me your suggestion in the comment.

Greetings and see you in the next video
Sascha

Yesterday I made a retro mini TV with the help of my xTool M1. It's really fun to work with the device. But I always realize that I still have so much to learn.

I generated the science fiction image on the television with AI - so I'm on the safe side when it comes to copyright.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions. Is there an object that you would like to see miniaturized or how I make a miniature of it? Just write that in your comment.

Broken Rusty Hacksaw Restoration - To Good To Throw Away

This old hacksaw was a flea market find for me. It was in really poor shape. The saw’s bracket had paint that had either peeled off or been scuffed off, and the handle was damaged and filthy. The saw has had far better days.

Yet I also noticed immediately away that it had a solid foundation. The brackets are excellent steel, the handle is solid beech, and the bow is made of sturdy steel. Very good repair was done on the thread and wing nut.

Therefore: too good to be thrown away.
I’ve been needing a good hacksaw anyhow. I’ve decided to turn it into a tiny side project as a result.
