ACB traps and arrests Fayaz Ahmad Khan, State Manager, Jammu & Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation, Srinagar for demanding and accepting bribe of ₹1.05 lakh from complainant for issuance of NOC

Anti corruption Bureau received a complaint from complainant resident of Suthrashahi, Srinagar alleging therein that he is an industrial unit holder. His unit is situated at Khunmoh, Srinagar. For expansion of the said industrial Unit he had requested for financial support/assistance from the J&K Bank Khunmoh. The bank sought NOC from SIDCO (Jammu & Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation), Sanat Ghar, Bemina, Srinagar.

2. Accordingly he prepared file and completed all paper work and approached SIDCO office Bemina. State Manager Fayaz Ahmad Khan posted there demanded ₹ 5,000 for himself and ₹ 1 lakh for General Manager (K) Khursheed Ahmad for issuance of the required NOC in favour of the complainant. As the complainant don’t want to pay any bribe, he approached ACB with request for necessary legal action against these corrupt officers for demand of bribe of ₹ 1.05 lakh.

3. As the contents of the complaint prima facie disclose the commission of offence under section 7 of the PC Act 1988 & section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code hence immediately case FIR No 23/2022 was registered at PS ACB Srinagar and investigations were started.

4. Immediately after registeration of the case a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught Fayaz Ahmad Khan, State Manager SIDCO Sanat Ghar, Bemina, Srinagar red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team. The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses.

*Amid Dry Weather Forecast, Night Temp Hovers Below Normal In Kashmir*

Srinagar, June 3(GNS): Amid forecast for dry weather, night temperature hovered below normal in Kashmir Valley and slightly decreased in Jammu division on Friday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 12.2°C against 11.6°C on the previous night, he said. The temperature, he said, was below normal by 0.3°C during this time of the year for the summer capital.

Qazigund recorded a low of 9.4°C absent 10.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.7°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam, which had 1.3 mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 0830 hours today, recorded a minimum of 5.4°C against 6.3°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.2°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 10.3°C against 10.1°C on the previous night. It was 0.8°C below normal during this time of the season for the place in south Kashmir, the official said.

Gulmarg received 0.4 mm of rainfall during the time and recorded a low of 4.8°C against 3.0°C on the previous night, the official said. While 7.6°C is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 2.6°C below normal for the place in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 9.6°C against 9.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.4°C below normal for the district, the official told Global News Service.

Jammu recorded a low of 26.5 °C against 27.7°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 1.0°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 13.4°C, Batote recorded a low of 15.0°C while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 11.8°C, the official said. The MeT department has forecast mainly dry weather in the next few days. *May month records 17 encounters: 27 militants; 2 security force’s killed*

*‘91 militants killed this year so far, slain include 53 from LeT outfit alone’*

Srinagar, May 31 (KNO): Kashmir valley reported 17 encounters in the month of May in which 27 militants and two security personnel were killed.

As per the data available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), of the 17 encounters, 10 were reported in South Kashmir, six in North Kashmir and one in Central Kashmir.

Data states that 91 militants were killed in J&K this year so far and among them two were killed in Jammu division and 89 in Kashmir division.

Among 91 militants killed 26 were non locals and 65 locals and most of them 53 we're affiliated with LeT, 24 with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM), 11 with Hizb, two with Al-Badr and affiliation of one wasn't known.

On May 06, Three Hizb militants including longest surviving commander Ashraf Molvi of Kokernag, Roshan Zameer of Aswara kanelwan in Bijbehara and Muhammad Rafiq Drangay of Hayar Bijbehara were killed in an encounter in Sirchan Top area of Pahalgam.

On May 08, Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants identified as Haider, a Pakistani, and Shahbaz Shah, a local from Kulgam were killed in an encounter in Cheyan Devsar area of Kulgam.

On May 09, militants managed to give slip to forces, however, one civilian namely Shahid Ahmad was killed during cross fire at Pandushan area of Shopian.

On May 10, two LeT militants identified as Arif Hussain Bhat resident of Halsidar Dooru & Suhail Ahmad Lone resident of Awgam Kulgam were killed in an encounter in Kreeri Anantnag.

On May 11, a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant identified as Gulzar Ganaie of Baramulla who was a part of a newly infiltrated militant group, was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Srinder forest area of North Kashmir's Bandipora.

On May 13, two non-local LeT militants were killed in an encounter in the Brar Argam area of Bandipora district. On the same day, militants managed to give slip to forces after a brief exchange of fire in Marhama Bijbehara area of Anantnag district.

On May 16, a youth namely Shoaib Ahmad Ganaie was killed in cross fire in a brief exchange of fire in Turkwangam area of Shopian district.

On May 20, a foreign militant identified as Mohammad Muneer son of Bilal Ahmad, a resident of Jura BandiBandi (POK), was killed in an encounter in Tangdhar area of Kupwara.

On May 25, three non-local militants affiliated with JeM and a cop were killed in a chance encounter in the Kreeri area of Baramulla.

On May 26, three non-local LeT militants and an army porter were killed in an encounter in Kupwara district.

Two newly recruited local militants affiliated with LeT namely Shahid Mushtaq Bhat from Hafroo Chadoora and Farhan Habib from Hakripora Pulwama who according to police killed TV artist Amreen Bhat were killed in an encounter in Aganhanzipora Awantipora on May 27.

On the same day, two newly recruited LeT militants namely Shakir Ahmed Waza and Afreen Aftab Bhat, both residents of Trenz Shopian, were killed in an encounter in Soura, Srinagar.

On the same day militants managed to give slip to forces after a brief exchange of fire in the Gundpora Rampora area of Bandipora. On 28 May, two HM militants namely Ishfaq Ahmad Ganaie resident of Chakwangund Anantnag and Yawar Ayoub Dar resident of Dogripora Awantipora were killed in an encounter in Sheetipora Bijbehara.

On 30 May, two local JeM militants identified as Abid Shah of Monghama Pulwama and Saqib Azad Sofi of Amshipora Shopian were killed in an encounter in Gundipora Pulwama.

On May 31, two Jaish militants identified as Shahid Rather of Larow Tral and Umar from Shopian were killed in an encounter in Rajpora Awantipora area of Pulwama district—(KNO)

ramban, may 21: rescuers have retrieved the body of another worker near khoni nallah area of ramban after part of a tunnel collapsed while search continues for others who are trapped, officials said saturday.

"second body retrieved from debris site at khooni nallah.identity will be ascertained. body being shifted to district hospital", deputy commissioner, ramban, mussarat islam said in a tweet.

on friday (may 20) evening, landslide, prompted the authorities to suspend the rescue operation. it could not be resumed until this morning due to shooting of stones from the hillock, heavy rains and strong winds, officials said.

with the improvement in the weather condition, the rescue operation resumed with the first light of the day with authorities pressing three earth movers and rock-breakers to reach out to the trapped workers, they said.

additional personnel along with magistrates have been deployed to speed up the rescue operation, they added.

Minor girl kidnapped, sexually assaulted in Malbagh, juvenile among 3 accused held: Police

Srinagar, May 17 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday arrested three persons including a juvenile for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl in Malbagh area of Soura in Srinagar outskirts.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police said that three persons kidnapped a minor girl from Taqdeer Park Hazratbal and sexually assaulted her at a rented house at Mallabagh.

Soon after receiving the information, officials at Police Station Nigeen registered a case under FIR number 57/2022 under section 363-342-354/IPC and starts investigation.

The trio were arrested by police while the victim was shifted to hospital for medical checkup.

Meanwhile, police in a tweet said that three persons involved in the act were arrested.

*Bakerwal return to meadows after 2 years break

Srinagar, May 16 (KNO): Hundreds of families from Bakerwal community along with their livestock returned to high-altitude meadows of Kashmir after a break of two years of Covid pandemic.

The annual migration of the pastoral community was affected because of the pandemic. In April, they travel by foot for weeks together along with their livestock through mountains to reach upper reaches of the Valley. Similarly, they return from the meadows to plains in Jammu for winters.

News agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) travelled along with Bakerwals to talk to them about their journey after two years of break.

Qasim Khan, a nomad from Pir Panjal region says they are happy and excited that they are moving freely after two years. He said while many have already entered the Valley but many are still on the way.

Another nomad Mohammad Hussain Poswal said that locals welcomed them everywhere upon their arrival. "We've a lot of friends here who used to come to us often," he said.

Another nomadic caravan while on the way to Gurez valley said that they migrate to the Valley every year except for the last two years.

Tasleema, a woman who accompanied the caravan hopes they will not be harassed by locals here as she lost one of his relatives here last year while fighting with the locals—(KNO)

1. *There shall be no traffic movement on every Friday on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road from either side in view of maintenance/repairing on Zoji La axis.*

2. *Restriction on Dhar Road for HMVs with more than 10 tyres*
HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

*TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 17-05-2022*
*Tomorrow on 17-05-2022, subject to fair weather and better road condition *LMVs(Passenger)/private Cars* shall be allowed *from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)* viz *Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa* . *TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban* before releasing the traffic.

*CUT OFF TIMING:*
*LMVs/private Cars from Nagrota (Jammu) at 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs,*
*from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0800 hrs to 1300 hrs* &
*from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs* (subject to change depending on road condition)
*No Vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings.*

*HMVs/Load Carriers*
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, HMVs shall be allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu after assessing the traffic situation on NH-44. TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs.

*SFs Convoy Movement*
Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. *They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu* after confirming the status of NHW.

*SSG ROAD*
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road shall be allowed from both side viz Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa. LMVs followed by HMVs will be released from *Sonamarg towards Kargil at 0600 hrs. upto 1000 hrs. and LMVs followed by HMVs will be released from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 1600 hrs upto 1800 hrs.*
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing.

*MUGHAL ROAD*
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, *LMVs shall be allowed from both sides and HMVs shall be allowed from Poonch towards Srinagar* on Mughal road. *LMVs followed by HMVs* will be released from *Behramgalla (Buffliaz) towards Srinagar at 0900 hrs upto 1500 hrs.* and *LMVs will be released from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch at 0900 hrs upto 1200 hrs. Nomadic movement shall allowed uninterrupted, subject to situation of road.*

People are advised to undertake journey on NHW-44 only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under:-

Man Dies Of Electrocution In Kulgam

A 70-year-old man was electrocuted to death while repairing a wire at his home in Bogund area of South Kashmir’s kulgam district on Monday.

Sources told , that a man identified as Ghulam Ahmad Dar son of Wali Mohammad Dar resident of Bogund kulgam was repairing a wire at his home when he came in contact with the live wire and died on the spot.

AEE Kulgam Javid Ahmad said that the he reaping bolier at bathroom he said.

The locals took him to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.p
