A Plea for Life: Help Save Purna Prasad Dhakal

In a quiet village called Gantaykha under Dophuchen Gewog in Samtse Dzongkhag lives a 28-year-old man, Purna Prasad Dhakal, whose life has taken a sudden and devastating turn. Since December 2024, Purna has been battling end-stage renal disease — a condition where both kidneys have failed and survival depends on either ongoing dialysis or, ultimately, a kidney transplant.
Purna’s doctors have confirmed that a transplant is his only long-term hope. Yet, despite extensive efforts, no matching kidney donor has been found within his family or close circles. With time running out and options narrowing, Purna and his loved ones are turning to the compassionate hearts of the Bhutanese people.
This is not a call for charity or financial help. Rather, it's a plea for the most selfless gift one human can offer another — the gift of life.
To be a potential donor:
The donor must be between 21 to 60 years old and the blood group A+ve or O+ve will be eligible.
Purna himself is 28 years old and A+ve. A matching kidney from a healthy and willing donor could restore his health and offer him a chance to live the life every young person dreams of a life of purpose, family, and hope.
We appeal to individuals across the country to step forward if they feel moved to help. If you or someone you know fits the eligibility and is willing to consider donation, please reach out at 17352175 or 17398263.
This message is a reminder of how deeply connected we all are that one act of kindness can mean everything to someone else.
Please Note:
Buying and selling of organs is strictly illegal under the law of the Kingdom of Bhutan. This message is not for fundraising purposes, but solely for finding a suitable, compassionate kidney donor.
Your courage and compassion could be the miracle that Purna and his family have been praying for.
Note: This message and picture is shared at the request of Purna Prasad and his family.
