A former Washtenaw County church youth group director will now stand trial on 60 charges connected to sexual abuse after a judge added 30 more counts following testimony Tuesday.

Zachary Radcliff, 29, appeared Tuesday in a courtroom for a preliminary examination, where several young men testified against Radcliff. Following testimony, 14A District Court Judge J. Cedric Simpson added nine counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and 21 counts of child sexually abusive activity. In all, Radcliff faces 60 charges related to first-degree criminal sexual conduct, child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime.

“What I saw with them, they need to be believed, and they ought to be believed. Whether anyone does, that’s maybe for the future. But I believe them. I believe everything they told this court,” Simpson said.

“I don’t say this lightly at all. Not how I operate my life and certainly not how I operate as a judge. But in my 25-so-plus years, I’ve seen a lot. This ranks up with one of the most egregious predators that I have ever seen as it regards individuals.”

Radcliff is the former music and youth director at Oakwood Church in Augusta Township. Michigan State Police began investigating Radcliff on Oct. 2, 2024, after they were notified that he had solicited child sexually abusive material from a minor. Police executed a search warrant of Radcliff’s office and residence.

In October, officials said they had identified multiple victims and that the victims range in age from 12 to 17 years old. It’s alleged that the crimes have been occurring since at least 2011.

In a recent viral post, Donald Trump’s official campaign channels claimed that the so-called “Antifa stronghold” of Portland had finally crumbled under militarized police raids. What followed was a classic example of 21st-century digital authoritarian propaganda, not simply for its style or tone, but for its intentional weaponization of myth: in this case, the transformation of “Antifa”, a historically diffuse, decentralized belief in anti-fascism, into a singular, organized, criminal enterprise akin to a terror network. The post does not present facts, but instead constructs a fictional enemy that can be used to justify sweeping crackdowns on dissent, surveillance of nonprofits, and even IRS investigations of political adversaries.

To be clear: Antifa is not an organization. There is no membership roster, funding structure, or leadership hierarchy. What is called “Antifa” in U.S. political discourse is a loose ideological tradition rooted in early 20th-century Europe, where workers, communists, anarchists, and ordinary citizens banded together to resist Mussolini’s Blackshirts and Hitler’s Brownshirts. In Germany, the Antifaschistische Aktion formed in 1932 to directly confront rising fascism, not through formal policy or electoralism, but through community defense. This history has been erased in Trumpist discourse and replaced with a paranoid fantasy of a shadowy, Soros-funded street army plotting to overthrow America. It is the mirror image of fascist propaganda from the 1930s, which painted Jews, socialists, and foreigners as conspiratorial threats to national purity.

This is the political function of the Trump post: to construct a symbolic “internal enemy” that justifies an ever-expanding authoritarian project. By invoking names like George Soros and Neville Roy Singham, and accusing them of funding "street violence" through charitable foundations and nonprofits, the post blends old antisemitic tropes with modern conspiracy theories. It borrows directly from fascist playbooks, using criminalization of dissent, guilt by association, and “dark money” narratives to prepare the public for mass repression. The proposed tactics, RICO charges, IRS audits, asset seizures, and stripping tax-exempt status from nonprofits, are not just about law and order. They are about destroying the infrastructure of political resistance, from bail funds to protest support networks, by labeling them criminal organizations.

Historically, this approach echoes McCarthyism, COINTELPRO, and the tactics of European fascist regimes, which consistently conflated ideology with sedition. In every case, the ruling regime justified the erosion of civil liberties by identifying a supposedly subversive internal threat. Trump’s social media post uses similar language: nonprofit organizers are painted as traitors, ideological opponents are exiled, and public dissent is pathologized as violent extremism. The real goal is not to stop violence, it is to consolidate power, intimidate opposition, and reframe all anti-authoritarian activism as terrorism. This is especially ironic considering the documented history of right-wing political violence in the United States, from Charlottesville to January 6, which is completely absent from the narrative.

What’s most alarming is that this is not an isolated post, it is part of a coordinated narrative shift that aligns directly with the Project 2025 playbook, which aims to militarize the executive branch, purge the civil service, and expand domestic surveillance under the guise of patriotism. The strategy here is not about ending chaos, but manufacturing chaos to justify authoritarian control. The dehumanization of “Antifa” as a faceless, funded mob sets the stage for broader attacks on civil society, including Black Lives Matter groups, mutual aid networks, and even investigative journalists. This is the chilling logic of fascism: redefine your critics as enemies of the state, then crush them with the machinery of government.

A 24/7 live stream is now up at the Portland ICE building.

KATU News started a 24 hour livestream of the Portland ICE facility so you can see whats happening. Here’s the message from KATU, and the link to watch below:

“Our aim is to show the public everything we see. We want to give our viewers the opportunity to watch what is happening; to see for yourself and draw your own conclusions on whether or not federal intervention is warranted.

The unedited livestream will offer a look at all the activity that takes place outside the facility over a 24-hour period.

The stream will only drop out briefly every few hours so that our news crews can replace cameras and batteries, as well as adjust for shift changes.”
