Let’s talk about chat etiquette, friends. 💬🤍
Because lately, one thing has become my personal pet peeve: the cliffhanger messages.
You know the ones:
“Hello ateee”
“Ate?”
“Ate Diaaane 🥺”
“Pwede magtanong?”
Then… silence. No follow-up. No context. Just waiting for a reaction first before saying anything. 😅
I say this with love: please stop doing that. It’s not just unhelpful, it’s also a little disrespectful. 🥲
We’re all managing so much already.
So when we open a message and it’s vague or suspenseful, it triggers unnecessary anxiety.
It gives that feeling na “wait lang, ano ‘to? May emergency ba?” and honestly, it triggers unnecessary stress. Life is already full of things that make us anxious. Let’s not add more panic into our messages, please. 😅
We’re in a time where messaging apps don’t limit us to 160 characters anymore , so there’s really no reason to hold back or “build suspense” before getting to the point.
So here’s a better approach:
🟡 Say what you need, clearly and kindly.
🟡 Wait for the person to respond when they can.
🟡 Respect their time, energy, and headspace.
💬 Example:
“Hi Diane! Quick question lang po about ___.”
or
“Hello ate, may I ask if ___ is okay?”
Let’s respect each other’s time, energy, and mental space by being clear and considerate when we message. 💛
He Writes for Him.
