We want YOU... to !! Our first-ever continues this month with "A RURITANIAN ROMANCE NOVEL."

Now you may be thinking, what on earth is a Ruritanian Romance?? 🤔

This genre of fiction was rediscovered in an earlier episode of our podcast, when we read and reviewed THE PRISONER OF ZENDA, a rollicking 1895 swashbuckler that has proven to be one of our favorite old books yet! 💗 These stories are all about themes of love and duty, are set in fictional European countries, and often feature commoners mixing with, masquerading as, or otherwise becoming royals.

Modern examples of the Ruritanian Romance genre include THE PRINCESS BRIDE, THE PRINCESS DIARIES, and pretty much any Hallmark Channel movie featuring royals! 👑

So what are you waiting for? Join the reading challenge and be sure to use our hashtag to let us know what book you pick! 😍📚

Up first is a rollicking romance called HEARTS AND MASKS by Harold MacGrath, with illustrations by -- and a history segment about -- Harrison Fisher, and a reading selection from the book by one of our talented guest readers, David Dietz!
