Most people write because there’s something inside of them that needs to come out. It must come out, keeping it inside is too unbearable. Often what needs to be let out begins with a simple idea or perhaps merely the shadow of one. This occurs in a moment and flits away just as fast. All that is left then is a f e e l i n g. Capturing this feeling is what the whole written work is about. If we’re honest with ourselves, our favorite books become our favorite because of the feelings we experience when we read them. That shared experience begins the moment you put pen to paper.

Tolkien: He’s the “Father of Fantasy” for a reason. No one else has quite captured the fullness of an imagined world like he has. His books have touched and inspired millions of people for generations. Everything Tolkien writes, from the dawning adventures of The Hobbit to the dark wonders in The Lord of the Rings, sparks fire in the hearts of his readers. When it comes to fantasy literature, he has blazed the trail. Now, this generation has an opportunity to follow that same path and perpetuate his legacy.

At some point you’ve probably heard, “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Agree to disagree; a book’s cover is the first thing it has to say. If it doesn’t capture your attention or inspire your imagination, then why turn the page? If we’re honest, we all judge books by their covers, and maybe that’s okay.
