This is an excellent book that presents a compelling case about the reality of the Srebrenica Genocide. The book is exceptionally well-researched and makes this complex topic accessible to a wide audience. The way the information is presented makes the reader feel the enormous monstrosity of the acts committed. The image of a child emerging from a pile of dead bodies asking "Babo, where are you?" (p.95) as he searched for his father is heartbreaking. Additionally, the words used by the Serbs in carrying out the genocide to downplay their actions (such as "triage" on p. 102, and "tasks" on p. 211), and carrying out the genocide so that "not even a fly" could be allowed to escape (p. 113), are eye-opening in their lack of humanity. What makes these criminal acts even more perplexing is that the Serbs perpetrating the genocide were members of the military who obviously knew they were carrying out crimes that violated the "laws and customs of war" (p. 260). This book is a must-read for anyone interested in learning about the Srebrenica Genocide.

This book is the story of author’s experiences as a forensic technician, gathering evidence of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo, from 1996 to 2002, during the most extensive international forensic investigation in history conducted by the United Nations. ‘Grave Faces’ is unique in that it’s the first book written by an experienced technician who was involved in that investigation. The book is based on the author’s personal experiences recorded as his memoire. S*x and the War is a novel about a Bosnian-American women and former war refugee who has lived through the conflict in Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. The book follows her absurd penchant for wars and her futile attempts to achieve gender equality, as well as financial and sexual satisfaction in their midst. Born in the Former Yugoslavia, Busuladzic was in her early 20s when her identity of a successful, young journalist was suddenly squashed by the breakup of the country and subsequent war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the ethnic stamp of her first name becomes detrimental to her survival. Ibrahim Bećirović has provided us with a detailed and well-defined analysis of nine judgments by the ICTY and one judgment by the Court of BiH Mr. Bećirović survived the Srebrenica genocide and is retired from his position as a brigadier in the Bosnian Army. These experiences make him uniquely qualified to provide such an analysis of these final verdicts. He understands this extraordinarily complicated story and is able to convey large amounts of detailed information in a way that is both interesting and comprehensible to the reader. His analyses are provided within the context of the war, the region, and significant events that were happening in July 1995 in the UN safe areas of Srebrenica and Žepa. This book, "The Final Verdicts," is an important tool in the ongoing efforts to counter the extreme denial that continues to exist about the war, crimes against humanity, and the genocide.
