I had the pleasure of hanging out at the Juneteenth Celebration last week at Vancouver's Ester Short Park. It was a fun and upbeat event, and I always enjoy it when people share their perspectives with me. If you'd like to hear what people have to say, you can! I edited together some of the audio for Making Connections, which airs this Weds., June 28 at Noon. Stream anywhere at KXRW.FM. Tune in to the radio at 99.9 or 107.1.

Nikki Costa told me, "I would say that getting people their names back is the single most important work I did in my career," in part one of my radio show about her work with the Clark County ME's office. This week, we'll have more discussion about forensic geneology, her career path, and some of the important government services we take for granted.
"You certainly have a sense of value that you're adding to the community and the citizens that you're responsible to. At least I did."
Making Connections airs this Wednesday at Noon on Vancouver's KXRW.FM, 99.9 and XRAY fm 107.1 in Portland.

Black History Month winds down, but this interview is worth listening to anytime! I recently met a talented musician and wonderful human named Keith Cheek. We talked about jazz and soul, Black History month and American History. Keith Cheek taught me things about music I hadn't known, and it was such a pleasure to have this talk. We touched on Nina Simone, Mingus, John Coltrane, MLK, Sam Cook, and of course, Billie Holiday. Click this link to check it out.
