本のフォーマットは、写真集の要素と、スケートボード雑誌のインタビューの率直で生々しいスタイルを融合させたもので、親密なインタビュー、写真、アートワークを通じて、スケートボードとタトゥーの絡み合った文化を探求しています。
『Let it Kill You』は単なる本ではなく、マックイーンの人生と作品に多大な影響を与えた 2 つのサブカルチャーの永続的なつながりを称える作品です。

【プロフィール】
Ben McQueen(San Francisco, USA)
インディアナ州プレインフィールドで生まれ育った彼は、生涯にわたるスケートボーダー兼アーティストです。コロンビア・カレッジ・シカゴでアートと映画を学んだ後、タトゥーアーティストになるための修業を開始しました。以来、マククイーンは世界中でタトゥーを施し、タトゥー業界で最も著名なコンベンションやショップに招待され、作品を発表してきました。彼のタトゥーは世界中で10冊以上の書籍に掲載されています。
2019年にサンフランシスコに定住したMcQueenは、パンデミックを機会として、人生の2つの核心的な要素であるタトゥーとスケートボードの交差点を探求する深く個人的なプロジェクトを始動しました。タトゥー業界で15年以上活動した後、マクイーンは映画制作のルーツに戻りました。彼は「Let It Kill You」をスケートとサーフコミュニティのアーティストを巻き込んだより広いプラットフォームに拡大しました。
本書はドキュメンタリーシリーズとして映像化され、VICEによって迅速に採用されました。

Most of the photos in this book were taken in Fussa and at the beach, and members of “Kyushakai"
Without any prearranged plans, I simply photographed the scenes and people that happened to appear in front of me.
When I am taking photos, I feel truly alive.
None of the photos are particularly profound, but I hope that they convey a certain vibration that cannot be put into words.

Let it Kill You is a visualy rich and deeply personal book by tatoo artist and skateboader
Ben McQueen. The book explores the interwined cultures of skateboading and tatooing through
intimate interviews, photography, and artwork.
The book’s format blends elements of a photography book with the candid, raw style of skateboad
magazine interview. Intervews were conducted in person during 2021 and 2022, capturing authentic
stories and perspectives.
Let it Kill You is not just a book; it’s a tribute to the enduring connection between two subcultures
that have profoundly influenced McQueen’s life and work.

Last night, a water pipe burst on the floor above the building where SUPER LABO is located, and the entire STORE is currently flooded. The flooding has reached the backroom warehouse area, so it will take a considerable amount of time to restore the premises. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but the store will be closed for the time being until renovations are complete. We anticipate reopening around the end of summer.

昨晩、SUPER LABOの入っているビルの上階の水道管が破裂したようで、現在 SUPER LABOのSTORE店内は水浸しとなっています。店内ではバックヤードの倉庫部分まで全て水浸しとなっているため、復旧には相当な時間がかかりそうです。
