Condolences to the family and friends of Jana Bommersbach, long-time Phoenix journalist and author, who has died after a long illness. Jana decided to become a journalist when she was in high school and spent a long and productive life devoted to her profession. She was quoted in the chapter about her in the APW book "Skirting Traditions," as saying: "When I learned about the First Amendment, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I couldn't believe that the government guaranteed me the right to be nosy." We hope heaven is ready for her--she never stopped being nosy.
Jana was a special friend of APW, who joined us over a period of years at many of our special events and was always pleased to speak at our meetings and bring us up to date on her latest projects. She was thrilled when asked to be a subject in "Skirting Traditions," an official Arizona centennial project featuring twenty-eight women writers and journalists who were active during the Arizona centennial period 1912-2012. The book was written by eighteen members of APW and is available on Amazon.com.
