Author's Bio
Dr. Raymond Thoss is a clinical psychologist who works primarily with trauma patients, with a specific focus on victims of child abuse and neglect. The kindest thing he can say about his childhood is that he survived it. As a despairing teenager who had lost all will to live, he read Ligotti's omnibus, THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY, straight through in two days while recovering from a vicious beating. Thomas Ligotti saved his life.

As an adult, Dr. Thoss worked in national disaster zones, mental health clinics, academic hospitals, and juvenile detention centers, and has been a faculty member at multiple institutions. His life’s mission: to help the traumatized, the abandoned, and the lost.

Book Synopsis
The pentagram, once a symbol of protection, became corrupted into a mark of darkness. THE REBELLION AGAINST THE CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE HUMAN RACE mirrors that transformation, protecting readers through the corruption it reveals.

Five points form this pentagram: "Notes on a Horror" defines the enemy. "Trauma Narration" offers a weapon. "Pensées Noires" contemplates the struggle. "Listening to Monsters" applies Sun Tzu's first principle—know your enemy. "The World As Will And Desolation" applies his second—know yourself.

Built from personal trauma and forged through clinical practice, this work uses Thomas Ligotti's philosophical framework from THE CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE HUMAN RACE as its foundation. It provides tools for survival and rebellion, demonstrating that healing emerges not from denying the darkness of human existence, but from acknowledging and confronting it.

Happy Halloween everyone! Sales for MY WORK IS NOT YET DONE by Thomas Ligotti, illustrated by Paul Romano has begun. We have less than 200x copies of our deluxe signed hardcover edition to go around, and 75x of our slipcase edition. Please visit our website for full details and specs. Overseas customers can purchase through Psilowave.com.

Chiroptera Press presents My Work Is Not Yet Done, a landmark collection that unites three of Thomas Ligotti’s classic tales of corporate and existential horror in one definitive volume.

The first of three stories is a true Ligotti masterwork: the long, titular novella, “My Work Is Not Yet Done,” which follows Frank Dominio, a supervisor whose on-the-job philosophy is to keep his head down. But when a smug, creepy executive and a cabal of Dominio’s colleagues conspire to backstab him, leading to his forced resignation, Dominio comes in contact with an all-consuming, supernatural force that empowers him to take his revenge on his former compatriots in ways that are at once wildly imaginative, spectral, visceral, and darkly hilarious. Dominio’s ghoulish “work” leads to an unforgettable epiphany about reality itself that is revealed to be, in true Ligottian fashion, “a nightmarish obscenity.”

“I Have a Special Plan for This World” continues Ligotti’s corporate horror theme, documenting the Blaine Company's relocation to a strange city permeated by a thick, yellowish haze. After a series of mysterious murders, the company's founder, U. G. Blaine, begins to take a “direct hand” in operations. Blaine’s supernatural presence seems to merge with the city's toxic atmosphere as the company pursues its “preposterous ambition” to become a “dominant force in the world marketplace.”

The volume concludes with “The Nightmare Network,” a fragmented transmission from OneiriCon, a dreaming “multinational corporation” that seems to encompass existence itself. Told through a dizzying array of classified ads, executive memos, and surreal vignettes, Ligotti chronicles the ultimate big business “of delirious images and impulses” that ultimately merges with its own “anti-entity,” plunging all of reality into a “great chaos of confused purposes churning in darkness.”

This edition of My Work Is Not Yet Done features the lush production quality for which Chiroptera Press is known. Featuring stunning artwork by Paul Romano, including multiple interior illustrations, the volume is an exquisite collector's item for any connoisseur of weird fiction.

Happy October 1st everyone! We’re kicking off a suggested reading series to appreciate the greatest month of the year. Today we’d like to highlight SPECTRAL LIGHTS by Dejan Ognjanović. This is the perfect read for the ghostly, and atmospheric tales of old gloomy England.

Spectral Lights: Six Masters of the English Ghost Story is a study devoted to the ghost story as it flourished to an incomparable variety, range, and quality within English literature between the mid-19th and mid-20th century. In this first volume, author and critic Dejan Ognjanović analyzes the work of Sheridan Le Fanu, Vernon Lee, Henry James, M. R. James, Algernon Blackwood, and Robert Aickman in his in-depth, scholarly study written in an easily understandable style, augmented by detailed analyses of some of the best ghost stories ever written.

Dejan Ognjanović is a Rue Morgue magazine contributor (2010 – now), Rondo Hatton Award winner (2023) and Bram Stoker Award finalist (2022).

“Dejan Ognjanović has far more eloquence and perceptiveness to offer. I’m off to reread some of the fiction in the light of his exegeses. He has achieved the best function of criticism - to make us look again at what we may have thought we knew.” –Ramsey Campbell
