ON SALE NOW: Collected Fiction Volume 3 by H. P. Lovecraft. Edited by S. T. Joshi, illustrated by Karmazid.

In this third volume, the tales of Lovecraft’s final years are presented. The Antarctic novella At the Mountains of Madness is perhaps Lovecraft’s most finished work, a superb fusion of weirdness and science fiction that he referred to as “cosmicism.” “The Shadow over Innsmouth” is a chilling evocation of the terrors inherent in a lonely New England backwater, while “The Thing on the Doorstep” and “The Haunter of the Dark” feature physical horrors with cosmic implications. “The Shadow out of Time” is the culmination of Lovecraft’s portrayal of the vast vistas of space and time—his signature contribution to literature.

Spectral Lights by Dejan Ognjanović.

Spectral Lights: Six Masters of the English Ghost Story is a study devoted to the ghost story as it flourished to an incomparable variety, range, and quality within English literature between the mid-19th and mid-20th century. In this first volume, author and critic Dejan Ognjanović analyzes the work of Sheridan Le Fanu, Vernon Lee, Henry James, M. R. James, Algernon Blackwood, and Robert Aickman in his in-depth, scholarly study written in an easily understandable style, augmented by detailed analyses of some of the best ghost stories ever written.

Dejan Ognjanović is a Rue Morgue magazine contributor (2010 – now), Rondo Hatton Award winner (2023) and Bram Stoker Award finalist (2022).

“Dejan Ognjanović has far more eloquence and perceptiveness to offer. I’m off to reread some of the fiction in the light of his exegeses. He has achieved the best function of criticism - to make us look again at what we may have thought we knew.” –Ramsey Campbell
