‎DAY 54 BIBLE READING: Deuteronomy 31 – 34
‎
‎ BIBLE FOCUS: “The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
‎
‎
‎ TOPIC: Crossing Over Without Delay
‎
‎
‎
‎
‎FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURE INSIGHT
‎
‎Today’s reading captures one of the most emotional and prophetic seasons in Israel’s history. The transition of leadership from Moses to Joshua, the prophetic song of Moses, his blessings on the tribes, and finally, his death.
‎
‎Moses had walked with God for 40 years in the wilderness, leading a stubborn and rebellious people, yet God honoured him as His friend. In these chapters, God tells Moses he will see the promised land from Mount Nebo but will not enter it because of his disobedience at Meribah.
‎
‎Joshua is then appointed and commissioned before all Israel. God reassures Joshua and the people that His presence will go ahead of them into the promised land.
‎
‎Moses sings a prophetic song that is partly history, partly warning, partly encouragement, reminding Israel of God’s faithfulness and the danger of turning away from Him. Before his death, Moses blesses each tribe, speaking words that will guide their destinies.
‎
‎For us today, this is a reminder that life is full of transitions. People may come and go, seasons may change, but God remains the same, leading His children from one phase to another without abandoning them.
‎
‎
‎
‎
‎DAILY LIFE APPLICATION:
‎
‎I see myself at a crossing point in life just like Israel standing at the Jordan. There are things behind me that I must leave and there are promises ahead of me that I must take by faith. I refuse to be afraid of the unknown, for the Lord Himself has gone ahead of me.
‎
‎I declare that no fear, no discouragement, and no doubt will make me turn back. Just as Joshua was commissioned, I am divinely empowered for the next chapter of my life. My “Jordan” will not stop me; I will cross over without delay. Even if some relationships, resources, or comforts are left behind in this transition, God is enough for me. His presence guarantees my victory.

‎Real-Life Testimony:
‎
‎Sister Miriam had prayed and waited for twenty years. She married young, lost two businesses to corrupt deals, and for nearly a decade she lived in a small room above a market stall in Enugu, selling second-hand clothes. Every Sunday she tithed the tiny profit she made and kept giving whatever she could to the church’s feeding programme. People called her “naïve” because she kept giving while she seemed to hold onto nothing.
‎
‎One night, after a season of deep fasting and these very words from Deuteronomy burned in her heart “The LORD, he it is that doth go before thee…”
‎
‎She felt a quiet assurance to stop chasing the next quick scheme and to obey the clear small voice that said: “Fix your scales. Open your shop to those who cannot pay.” She did both. She repaired an old faulty scale and began a “help a neighbor” policy where she let struggling women take clothing on credit and pay later.
‎
‎Within three months a local school hired her to supply uniforms. The old connections she’d tried to force for years suddenly came through naturally. A former customer who had moved to Lagos sent her a bulk order and within a week she cleared all her debts. Within a year Sister Miriam employed three women from her street, rented a small shop, and her children were back in school with new uniforms. She later testified: “I didn’t cross over by strategy. I crossed over because I stopped carrying the old battles and started obeying God in the small things. God had already gone before me.”
‎
‎Her testimony spread in the city. People who knew her story said it was sudden, but Miriam knew it had been a decade in making.
‎
‎
‎Faithfulness in the small things produced a covenant harvest when God moved her into the promise.
