Chana Dal ki Litti & Aloo Tamatar ka Saag ✨
A beautiful rustic dish packed with flavours 😋
Detailed Recipe :
- Wash & soak 2 cups chana dal for 4-5 hours atleast
- Transfer to a blender jar along with 2 small size Badi Elaichi, 1/2 inch cinnamon stick, 6-7 peppercorns, 5-6 garlic cloves, 2-3 green chillies, 1/2 inch ginger, salt to taste, a pinch of haldi, a pinch of red chilli powder, a pinch of hing, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp roasted cumin seeds or roasted cumin powder, 1 tsp garam masala
- Blitz coarsely into a rustic paste; you can also add a splash of water but make sure it’s not watery at all, we need a thick consistency
- Transfer this mixture to a bowl & adjust the spices
- Add 1 finely chopped onion & mix and your Litti mixture is ready
- Heat 2 tbsp mustard oil in a tawa till it starts smoking and then lower the flame (mustard oil gives a beautiful flavour to the Litti)
- Dip your palm in water and roll a generous amount of the Litti mixture in your palm
- Then gently spread a thick layer of the Litti mix onto the pan/tawa with your hand
- Cook it on medium flame till the ends start browning; flip & cook till golden brown on both sides
- Once done, serve hot with the Aloo Tamatar saag & mint chutney!☺️
