In 2017, DaShoan and Sofia Olds from Marianna, Florida, came across a local news story that changed their lives. The report shared that seven siblings, ranging in age from 5 to 14, were about to be split up and adopted into four different families.
After 13 years of marriage without children of their own, the Olds felt called to act. They decided to open their home and adopt all seven, reuniting the siblings under one roof.
On June 2, 2017, the children moved in with the couple as part of the official adoption placement process. For the first time in years, the siblings were able to live together, sharing meals, laughter, and the comfort of staying connected as a family.
The Olds described it as overwhelming at times, but also deeply fulfilling — a chance to give the children the stability and unity they had been missing.
Today, the Olds family is thriving. The children, now older teens and young adults, continue to live with or stay closely connected to DaShoan and Sofia.
