Kalifah Aganaga Seeks UGX 550 Million From KFC Uganda Over Alleged Copyright Infringement
Ugandan singer Kalifah Aganaga is reportedly preparing to take legal action against "KFC Uganda" accusing the fast-food company of allegedly infringing on his copyright and neighbouring rights.
The dispute reportedly arose after KFC Uganda posted an advertising reel that featured music from Kalifah Aganaga’s “Nasanga Remix.” According to the singer, the song’s audio can be clearly heard playing in the background of the advertisement.
Kalifah is now demanding UGX 550 million in compensation, alleging that his music was used in the advertisement without his authorisation or the necessary licensing.
The matter could now head to court if the two parties fail to reach an agreement.
