Since AoE 1 has wololoed me from dinosaur to history guy 23 years ago, I could not pass an occasion to do a historical review of Return of Rome DLC :D

Obviously AoE series is more "history" inspired, where gameplay (for a good reason) takes over "accuracy" but I bet I am not the only one converted to history by this game!

Beautiful Polish bechter armor from Natonial Museum of Krakow.

Bechter or Mail and plate armor has unusual design. It's made of several rows of small plates, overlapping and arranged in vertical stripes, linked with metal rings.

Bechter from Krakow is made from over 1000 of such plates.
What is unique about it is the shape, resembling vams, a type of male clothing similar to doublet, popular in the second half of the 16th century. This Behhhter is an interesting merger of both Eastern and Western cultural elements.
