My first ever NASCAR gaming experience. I had the gold edition though.

NASCAR 98 is one of the defining stock car racing games of the PS1 era—a title that captured the energy and intensity of NASCAR during its late-90s boom.

Released in 1997, it brought officially licensed drivers, teams, and tracks to the PlayStation, giving racing fans an experience that felt authentic and exciting for the time. 🏁🚗

What made NASCAR 98 stand out was its atmosphere. The roaring engines, packed speedways, and tight drafting battles created the feeling of being part of a real race weekend rather than just another arcade racer.

The gameplay balanced accessibility with strategy. Managing turns, maintaining momentum, and carefully navigating traffic became just as important as raw speed.

For many players, split-screen multiplayer became a huge part of the experience too—turning races into competitive battles full of close finishes and last-lap moments.

It also carried that unmistakable late-90s sports game presentation style, with menus, commentary, and visuals that instantly bring back memories of the PS1 era.

It may look simple by today’s standards, but at the time it delivered the thrill of NASCAR in a way fans had never seen on console before.

A classic racing title that still represents an important era of sports gaming.

We want to give a huge shoutout to TrailerParkDude. He took on the tough task of trying to qualify for the Coke series in IRacing. A guy that never runs open setups, he joined up with Team Conti and gave it a hell of a shot. Was sitting RIGHT outside the top 30 cut line until bad luck struck the last 2 races. The grind will continue and we will give it another shot! Big things to come
