Fenix was one of the first character deaths in a video game that actually hit me (is 25+ years still spoiler territory?) I absolutely LOVED the original StarCraft and Brood War campaigns - those games instilled a love for strategy, sci-fi, and constructing adequate amounts of supply structures.

I still have yet to play a strategy game or RTS that hooks me in quite the same way, and it's a shame that this franchise is likely lost to the void now. Classic memories 🥲❤️

Why isn't Super Mario RPG mentioned in the "classics" discussion for turn based games?

This strategy game was ahead of its time - with interactive combat similar to Expedition 33 (timed button pushes to extend combos or do bonus damage) and a surprisingly well done translation of the Mario universe and characters into RPG format.

We hear Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem, and other classic turn based game franchises discussed quite a bit, but I think Super Mario RPG deserves some respect too. What do you think? Am I just blinded by nostalgia?? 😆

Starvaders is a unique, modern spin on the retro classic Space Invaders - blending an arcade vibe with turn-based grid combat and roguelike progression. Roguelike deckbuilders are not usually my favorite type of game, but this one REALLY stands out and could be a hidden gem!
