FORT MYERS, FL — A tornado ripped through parts of Fort Myers and Naples, Florida earlier today, from north Collier County and across the gulf coast in Lee County and beyond.🌪😱( )

Video on the first slide shows blue power flashes from an EF-2 tornado early this morning that reported winds up to 118 mph.l, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado reportedly damaged and destroyed dozens of homes and caused power outages in the southwest Florida area, including some mobile homes at the Tropicana RV Resort in Fort Myers.

No deaths or major injuries were reported.

Four minor injuries however were reported in Lee County by 3 p.m. ET today. In Charlotte County, at least 141 customers were waiting to be reconnected with power.

One county assessed that 27 homes destroyed, 24 with major damage and 14 with minor damage. Cecil Pendergrass, the County Commission Chairman later told reporters that 62 of the homes were unlivable after being struck by the tornado.

“We will coordinate resources to meet the immediate needs, we are working with the Red Cross,” Pendergrass said.”
