A Syrious Look.  A Magazine about Cultural Displacement. A Syrious Look is an independent magazine-project, that will feature Syrian artists, writers, and cr The magazine was released in December 2016. Get involved!

A Syrious Look is an independent magazine that features Syrian writers, creatives, and artists who have recently come to Germany. All proceeds will be donated to a refugee aid organization. Besides featuring their recent work, the artists will reflect on their current situation and questions of home, identity, and exile. Featured figures:

Sulafa Hijazi (conceptual artist), Sadiq Jalal al-Azm (phi

losophy professor emeritus), Raed Wahsh (online magazine founder), Doha Hassan (journalist), Talal Derki (movie director, The Return to Homs), Ayham Majid Agha (actor), Liwaa Yazji (screenwriter and movie director; Haunted), Salam Alhassan (musician and illustrator), Amer Matar (writer and founder of the Syrian Mobile Film Festival), Yaser Safi (painter), Aref Hamza (poet), Mey Seifan (Choreographer). A Syrious Look is curated and edited by Mohammad Abou Laban (poet and screenwriter), Ziad Adwan (theatre and film director), and Mario Münster (co-founder of ROSEGARDEN Magazine). The Berlin-based photographers Tabea Mathern and Florian Reimann shot a series of portraits of all featured artists. The photos appear in the magazine and are scheduled to be exhibited in Berlin. The Hamburg-based design Studio Mutter provided the magazine’s design. Stories Unlimited, a Berlin-based creative studio specializing in video storytelling, is on board for a video documentation.
