What counts as a beautiful book? For me, Klara and the Sun comes to mind.. it gentle and sublime.. it gently grows on you.. I found the story to be profound and heartfelt.. a true masterclass in story writing by the Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro. I find his writing to have this amazing intangible quality.. This is his best work IMO.. far better than Never Let Me Go or the Remains of the day

Just finished reading this.. as a guy here are my thoughts.....

I feel that the first half of the book is geared more towards the young adult audience.. and it almost made me quit.. it was making me feel like I'm too old for this 😅

The second half gets better and brings it all to a tidy conclusion.. maybe a tad too tidy.. real life is not a fairytale and does not have a fairytale ending.

I liked how it ultimately handled the heavy stuff.. although maybe a tiny bit superficial at that .. but still well enough.

It's a decent read for me... But I understand that it resonated immensely with a lot of the readers.. especially the female audience and more specifically those who have unfortunately experienced toxic abusive relationships....
