Anyone else read Remarkably Bright Creatures and feel oddly emotional over an octopus??

This book… haha.. it was wierd for sure!. It’s warm, strange, gentle, a little sad, a little magical. And the whole time I kept thinking: Why am I getting attached to an octopus who sounds wiser than half the humans I know?

The story feels like soft sunlight through dusty windows — slow in places, a bit meandering, but comforting. Tova is such a tender character; you just want good things for her. And Cameron… messy, frustrating, but like a lot of us. The whole thing has this quiet “found family” energy that sneaks up and gets under your skin.

Is it perfect? No. Some parts feel too convenient, too tidy, like the plot wrapped itself up with a polite little bow. But honestly, I didn’t mind. The book isn’t trying to shock you. It’s just trying to make you feel something gentle and human. And it does.

And Marcellus — the octopus — absolutely steals the show.
