Professor James Clark unpacks one of Tudor history's biggest myths: the idea that English monasteries were destroyed because monks were blindly loyal to Rome. 📜✨Turns out, English monks weren't huge fans of the Papacy either! Many viewed Rome as an overly powerful, grasping, foreign authority—meaning Henry VIII and the very monks he targeted actually shared a surprisingly common perspective on the Pope.
