UNIPORT Senate Elects New Deputy Vice Chancellors

THE Senate of the University of Port Harcourt has elected three new Deputy Vice Chancellors to assist the Vice Chancellor in the administration of the University. This development comes as the tenure of the current Deputy Vice Chancellors draws to a close, necessitating the election of new officers to ensure continuity in leadership and effective governance within the University.
The election occurred during the 488th Senate Meeting held at the CBN Centre of Excellence Auditorium on August 6, 2025.
After a free and transparent voting process, the Senate elected the following individuals to serve as Deputy Vice Chancellors:
Professor Chukwudi Onyeaso was elected as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration. Professor Rosemary Ogu was elected as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics. Professor Angela Frank-Briggs was elected as the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research and Development.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Owunari Georgewill, congratulated the newly elected Deputy Vice Chancellors and urged them to remain diligent and committed to the growth of the University. He also commended the outgoing Deputy Vice Chancellors for their excellent service and contributions during their tenure.
The newly elected Deputy Vice Chancellors are expected to bring fresh perspectives and continue the drive toward academic excellence, administrative efficiency, and research advancement at the University of Port Harcourt.
