Etihad Airways continues expanding its global network with the announcement of a key new destination in the Middle East, Damascus, Syria from June 2026.

The new route reflects growing demand from travellers in the UAE and GCC to connect directly to Damascus. Etihad’s new airbridge with Damascus also provides travellers from Syria with direct access to the beautiful emirate of Abu Dhabi. Travellers benefit from access to Etihad’s expansive global network, with seamless connections through Zayed International Airport.
Service to Damascus will commence in June 2026 with four weekly flights, operated by Etihad’s Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring eight Business seats and 150 Economy seats, combining comfort, convenience, and the airline’s renowned hospitality. The new route enhances connectivity, reunites communities, and provides greater access to this culturally significant destination.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “This new route reflects our commitment to connecting people to the places that matter most to them. We are proud to expand our network into Damascus – one of the world’s most historic and culturally important cities – and to support the Syrian population with direct links to and from Abu Dhabi, as well as convenient onward connections across our global network. With trade between the UAE and Syria continuing to grow strongly, and with a vibrant Syrian community contributing to the prosperity of the UAE, these new flights will further strengthen our social, cultural, and economic ties.”

In 2024, trade between the UAE and Syria grew 23% year-on-year to AED 2.5 billion (US $680 million). The UAE is also home to more than 350,000 Syrians, whose contributions across business, culture, and society have played a significant role in the nation’s development. The new flights will further strengthen these economic links and deepen the bonds between the two countries.

The announcement continues Etihad’s rapid expansion, with Damascus becoming the 28th new destination announced within the last year.

The airline has grown passenger numbers by more than 80% compared to 2022 levels and is on track to reach 38 million passengers annually by 2030. The new services form part of Etihad’s broader strategy to serve destinations where customers want to travel whilst supporting the economic and cultural connections between Abu Dhabi and the wider region.

Turkish Airlines has added Seville, one of Spain’s most prominent tourism hubs, to its Southern Europe network, further strengthening its global connectivity. With this launch, Seville becomes the airline’s sixth destination in Spain after Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, and Bilbao.

The Belize Tourism Board has announced new dates for Beyond Blue: Belize’s Great Dive for Sustainability, the country’s first national dive summit dedicated to marine conservation and sustainable tourism.
Originally scheduled for Sept. 24–27, 2025, the summit will now be held April 22–25, 2026.
The event is designed to bring together certified divers, conservationists, industry professionals and storytellers for a four-day program that blends adventure with advocacy. The agenda will include immersive dive explorations on Belize’s Barrier Reef, conservation-focused evening sessions, and opportunities for networking with local leaders and international experts.
The summit is also a showcase for Belize’s Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant reef ecosystems on the planet. Organizers say the gathering will highlight how marine tourism and sustainability can work hand in hand, while positioning Belize as a leader in responsible travel.

A Limited Edition Summer Kit

Christmas Dining

On Christmas Day, The Dining Room and The Living Room will present a five-course menu from AUD 425 per person. The experience begins with a platter of Sydney’s finest seafood featuring freshly shucked oysters, sweet prawns, tuna and kingfish followed by glazed Berkshire ham caramelised with festive spice. The finale is a reimagined mango pavlova with rice pudding and pink peppercorn, a dessert that captures the vibrancy of an Australian summer. The course begins with a glass of NV Taittinger Champagne on arrival.

“Our vision was to capture the flavours of a harbourside Australian Christmas,” says Executive Chef Tyson Gee. “Guests will enjoy seafood at its peak, from fresh oysters to cured ocean trout, paired with tropical fruit accents and festive touches like glazed Berkshire ham and roast duck. Every dish has been imagined for a harbourside Christmas celebration.”

The celebrations extend throughout December with a Christmas Afternoon Tea from 1 – 24 December. Highlights include savoury creations such as braised turkey pie with cranberry gel and prawn cocktail with Marie Rose, followed by festive sweets including a gingerbread and salted vanilla bûche de Noël and a chocolate hazelnut bauble. Afternoon Tea is presented on a Harbour Bridge inspired tiered stand and priced from AUD 95 per person.

Festive Cocktails

Created by Head Mixologist, Kevin Botte, guests can enjoy seasonal cocktails crafted to celebrate the spirit of the season December. Highlights include the Christmas Negroni with homemade lemongrass cordial, Autonomy orange liqueur, Hickey London Dry Gin and Noilly Prat; the Christmas Cocktail, a bright mix of Brix white rum infused with seasonal stone fruit, fresh lime, Angostura bitters and a white chocolate and red gum salt rim with Mezcal Vida; and the warming Christmas Mulled Wine with white wine, lime and vanilla cordial, orange juice and stone fruit. For those seeking a non-alcoholic option, the Christmas Mocktail combines agave and hibiscus with Blå Tea and is garnished with fresh fruit, perfect for toasting the season in style.
