At 85, Patricia Morin decided to build a whole new life. 🌷

After nearly 50 years in the same home and community, Kari's mom packed up in her 80s and started over — new friendships, new home, new chapter. On this episode, Kari sits down with her mom to talk about the many lives she's lived: growing up as the oldest of six, welcoming her daughter Soi into the family through foster care, a marriage that lasted nearly five decades, raising four wildly different kids, leading her church and community, and rebuilding after losing her husband.

Inspired by the toasts shared at Pat's 85th birthday, this conversation is about family, legacy, and the truth that it is never too late to begin again.

Other than voting what do you have time and ability to do? Could you transport your neighbor who might otherwise have a hard time getting to the poll? Could you make sure every conversation you have with friends ends with “You are voting right?” Could you volunteer to be a poll worker or watcher like Lisa is? We need all hands on deck this year! Start making plans

Think of this, the rhetoric about election fraud is so bad that election workers are being threatened. Lisa’s mom was an election worker before she passed. Those are the people being threatened bc Trump lost the 2020 election

One of the ways I like to help is in getting out the vote. 🗳️Every election cycle I do letters from Vote Forward, this year I chose Postcards to Swing States. What I like about these is they are non partisan. They just remind people to vote. 🗳️ In my heart I put a little “please don’t vote against your own self interests” energy as I write each one. I love to focus on my home state of Ohio because I don’t recognize it any more.
