A Prayer When You're Hurting
Thank God! Some days seem insurmountably harsh. We're in a lot of pain. I'm having trouble. At every step, I'm fighting fear and concern. Thank you for not leaving us to fend for ourselves in the middle of it all. Please accept our apologies for doubting your involvement. Please forgive us if we mistook you for someone else. Please forgive us if we think we know a better way. You are absolutely dependable. You are All-Knowing and All-Powerful. You have the capacity.
No matter how complicated a situation seems to be, you are Lord over it. You are Healer, and you will never let the pain we are experiencing today go to waste. You'll put it to good use in some way. With you, anything is possible. You are capable of overcoming any challenge.
We give our sympathy to those who are grieving today. We ask that you console those who are mourning. As you remind us, the enemy will never be able to take us out of your sight, so we pray for the comfort of your presence to cover our minds and thoughts.
Never should he have an ultimate say in our lives. We are still safe in your presence, whether we are alive or dead. We admire that your ways are higher than ours and that your opinions are broader than ours. Every responsibility, every treatment, we lay it all at your feet. That is where I believe it will be best. We love you, Lord, and we desperately need your new grace. In Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
