🏔️ The untouched valley of Derborence - Valais 🇨🇭🏔️

As the 2025 summer holidays are about to start, I wanted to look back and recommend you our 2024 summer holiday destination!
Last year, we spent a week in what can only be described as wilderness paradise: the Derborence valley in the canton of Valais. 🏔️⛰️🌲 
We had a small forest chalet next to two breathtaking small lakes as our base, with mountains towering around us in every direction. This place was great for disconnecting. Despite it only being about an hour from Sion with the Postauto busses, it felt like we were almost alone here!

Explore the Lac de Derborence with its stunning beauty, explore the forests on the lower part of the valley or hike high atop the Godey barrage lake.   📍Where: Derborence Valley, Aven, Valais.
🗓️When: Only reachable during the summer months, completely closed in winter. 🚗🚌How to get there: About an hour with the car or Postauto route 331 from Sion to Aven/derborence. This is considered the most dangerous and most spectacular Postauto route in the country, you need some nerves of steel!  🤷⛰️What to do there: Disconnect, go hiking and enjoy an area in Switzerland almost unspoiled. 🇨🇭

🚨Great deal on lake cruise day passes at Interdiscount shop until June 22 2025! 🚨

Swiss electronics store Interdiscount has a great deal on day passes for virtually all lake cruises in Switzerland for only CHF 23.95!

Until June 22, you can buy a lake cruise day pass (2nd class) in Interdiscount stores and online for CHF 23.95, which is a STEAL!
The card gives you unlimited access for a day of your choice to cruises on many Swiss lakes. You buy a card, validate it on the day you want to use it and you can board any general cruise (check for exceptions) during that day. Great value for cruises on lake Brienz, lake Geneva, lake Lucerne and many more! The card can be used on any day until the end of the 2025 cruise season, though latest October 19 2025.
The card is sent physically to you when purchased online, so only Swiss residents can purchase online.
However, in physical Interdiscount stores, anyone can pop in and buy one until June 22. Stock is limited, but for example the Lucerne branch had over 2000 cards available this morning.

The weather is promising to be amazing this long Ascension day weekend! In Lucerne? Don’t miss out on a boat tour to the lovely Meggenhorn castle! You can enjoy the castle gardens, have a dip in the lake and from there walk all the way back to Lucerne by the waterside! ♥️

Did you know, that in Switzerland you can combine visiting high snowy mountain peaks with feeling like being in the mediterranean? This is Locarno, south Switzerland ♥️🇨🇭

With fast trains from Zurich and Lucerne taking under 2 hours, Locarno is a perfect destination when visiting Switzerland in the summer. Take a dip in Lago Maggiore, explore the old fisher’s town of Ascona and visit the lush Brissago islands! ♥️🇨🇭

Switzerland has many very popular train routes like the Bernina Express and the Glacier express. They sell out months in advance and are often not cheap. But Switzerland has so many other underrated beautiful train routes! Like the train from Luzern to Locarno we took this weekend. The trip over the Gotthard Panorama route takes 3 hours, but these views never get boring!

After the rain of yesterday, Lucerne is lush and is getting ready for a sunny week. Mount Pilatus in the backgrouns is slowly losing the last snow of the winter season! 🏔️

We spent the easter holidays in the mountain village of Andermatt, canton Uri! It was my first time here and was happily surprised of the things to do, despite it being the end of the winter season!
Here some tips we enjoyed while being in Andermatt:

1. Stroll the old town of Andermatt with its small shops and restaurants. Special tip is , a café serving delicious coffee and where you can paint for a flat fee in the adjacent atelier. The lovely woman working there told us the story of how Andermatt is turning into a booming destination. 🎨☕️
2. Seek higher grounds and explore the mountains around Andermatt. Even without the lifts open there is plenty to discover.
3. Take it easy in one of the hotel spa’s. We stayed in the and the spa (and everything else!) was amazing 😍🧖‍♂️
4. Walk down to the famous Teufelsbrücke, legend has it the devil himself built it as part of a pact that did not end as he expected! The gorge where the Teufelsbrücke (or devil’s bridge) is located has lovely waterfalls and viewing points.
5. Explore the new Andermatt Reussen area. Relatively newly built so not as authentic as old town, but plenty of cool shops and restaurants to see here.

Thank you Andermatt! We’ll definitely be back in the summer again! 🇨🇭♥️

It is promising to be a sunny weekend in Lucerne and much of Switzerland! What are your plans? Exploring nature, or maybe discovering Lucerne? You can spend it on the lake on a pedalo with the mountains in the background. Or what about drinks in the Inseli-park, where locals love the Buvette and Volière bar?

Either way, we hope you have a great weekend!

If you ever find yourself looking for a hotel in Andermatt, Switzerland, I highly recommend the Chedi Andermatt! We had the joy of staying here over the Easter weekend and it truly surpassed all expectations. Attentive staff, amazing food, breathtaking views and the entire hotel looks straight from a interior design magazine. Did I mention the amazing spa area? It is pricy, but really was perfect for us when exploring the surrounding mountains of Andermatt! ♥️

Spring in the front, winter still in the back! It was a magnificent sunny day in Lucerne today, with the white mountains still towering on the horizon. Enjoy your easter time everybody!
