On October 18, millions of Americans of all ages gathered peacefully across the country for “No Kings” rallies, protesting what they see as authoritarianism and corruption under President Trump. Over 2,600 events took place in cities, towns, and suburbs, with diverse crowds—including families and veterans—marching in a festive, carnival-like atmosphere.
Organizers and participants expressed concerns about Trump’s rapid policy changes, militarized immigration tactics, and pressure on media and institutions. Many longtime Republicans voiced disapproval of the party’s direction. The protests aimed to uphold democracy and resist overreach of power.
While Democrats broadly supported the movement, some Republicans condemned the rallies as anti-American. Experts predict these protests may not change policies but could strengthen opposition voices nationwide. Police reported minimal disturbances and no arrests, highlighting the orderly nature of the demonstrations.
