Wearing denim today to support those raise awareness about sexual assault and victim blaming.
Have you heard about Denim Day?
Denim Day is a global campaign that takes place in April (usually the last Wednesday).
The movement began after a controversial 1998 Italian Supreme Court ruling overturned a r**e conviction because the justices felt the victim’s tight jeans implied consent, arguing she must have helped remove them. In protest, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans, and the movement spread internationally.
Wearing denim on Denim Day is a visible way to:
• Show support for survivors of sexual assault
•Challenge harmful myths and attitudes, especially those related to victim-blaming
•Promote consent, respect, and education
Let’s use our voices and our outfits to make a statement. Are you wearing denim today?
