Este mes empecé a dar clases en el Centro Europeo de Estudios Superiores Minerva, y me siento muy orgullosa de acompañar a mis estudiantes latinos en su camino hacia el dominio del inglés. 🌍

Cada día en clase veo cómo se esfuerzan de verdad. Hacen preguntas, practican en voz alta, cometen errores y vuelven a intentarlo. Y la verdad, esa valentía me emociona. Me recuerda por qué amo enseñar.

Nos reímos, aprendemos y crecemos juntos. Me hace muy feliz ser parte de sus historias.

Seguimos avanzando, palabra por palabra. 💪📖

Every day in class, I see students showing up with real effort. They ask questions, practice out loud, make mistakes, and try again. And honestly? That kind of courage moves me. It reminds me why I love doing this.

Enseñar no siempre es fácil, especialmente cuando estás buscando la mejor manera de conectar con distintos tipos de estudiantes.

Casi todos los días trabajo uno a uno con un alumno que aprende mejor a través de recursos visuales.

La mayoría de las veces usamos tarjetas (flashcards) para repasar vocabulario, y eso realmente le ha ayudado a comprender la lección. La verdad, hace que todo el esfuerzo valga la pena.

Es un reto, sin duda. Pero momentos como este me recuerdan por qué amo lo que hago.

Teaching isn’t always easy especially when you’re figuring out how to best connect with different kinds of learners.

Almost everyday, I work one-on-one with a student who learns best through visuals.

Most of the time, we use flashcards to go over vocabulary, and it really helped him understand the lesson. Honestly, it makes all my effort worth it.

It’s challenging, for sure. But moments like these remind me why I love what I do.

Teaching 3rd graders the Irregular verbs? Make it FUN and MEMORABLE!

Today, I brought a Nintendo Switch-inspired game into my class. 👾

In pairs, students had to quickly form sentences using:

👉 A subject
👉 An irregular verb
👉 A time expression

For example:
🎯 "I went to the park yesterday."
🎯 "She ate pizza last day."

Whoever said the correct sentence first earned 1 point and let me tell you, THEY WERE SO INTO IT. 🥳

Hoy llevé a clase un juego inspirado en la Nintendo Switch. 👾

Por parejas, los estudiantes tenían que formar rápidamente oraciones usando:

👉 Un sujeto
👉 Un verbo irregular
👉 Una expresión de tiempo

Por ejemplo:
🎯 "I went to the park yesterday."
🎯 "She ate pizza last day."

¡Quien dijera la oración correcta primero ganaba 1 punto! Y déjame decirte… ¡ESTABAN SÚPER MOTIVADOS! 🥳

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬… 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞…🤔✨

En mi clase de inglés de 3º grado, tuvimos una lección divertida e interactiva sobre cómo hablar del pasado usando “There was” y “There were.”

📸 Mostré a mis estudiantes diferentes imágenes—algunas con un solo objeto y otras con varios—y les pedí que crearan oraciones. Fue una manera simple pero efectiva de ayudarles a entender:

✔️ There was – para una sola cosa en el pasado.
➡️ Ejemplo: There was a tree in the park. (Había un árbol en el parque.)

✔️ There were – para dos o más cosas en el pasado.
➡️ Ejemplo: There were many flowers in the park. (Había muchas flores en el parque.)

Ver a mis estudiantes formar oraciones con confianza fue un momento muy gratificante. ¡Enseñar gramática no tiene por qué ser aburrido! Se trata de usar imágenes, participación y práctica.

In my Grade 3 English class, we had a fun and interactive lesson on how to talk about the past using “There was” and “There were.”

📸 I showed my students different pictures—some with one object and others with many—and asked them to create sentences. It was a simple yet effective way to help them understand:

✔️ There was – for one thing in the past.
➡️ Example: There was a tree in the park.

✔️ There were – for two or more things in the past.
➡️ Example: There were many flowers in the park.

Watching my students confidently form sentences was such a rewarding moment! Teaching grammar doesn’t have to be boring—it’s all about visuals, engagement, and practice.

𝐇𝐨𝐲 𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐨 𝐚𝐳𝐮𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐥 𝐃í𝐚 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢ó𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐨.💙

Como 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥é𝐬 𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐝, esta es mi primera vez trabajando con niños dentro del espectro.

A veces puede ser un reto, pero también es una experiencia increíblemente gratificante. Cada día aprendo a ser más paciente, más flexible y a celebrar esos pequeños logros que significan tanto.

Estos niños me enseñan tanto como yo a ellos, y me siento muy agradecida por esta experiencia. Por eso, hoy llevo azul con orgullo, para mostrar mi apoyo a ellos y a todos los que luchan por una educación más inclusiva y comprensiva.

Sometimes, it can be challenging, but it’s also an incredibly rewarding experience. Every day, I learn to be more patient, more flexible, and to celebrate those small achievements that mean so much.

These children teach me just as much as I teach them, and I feel truly grateful for this experience. That’s why today, I wear blue with pride to show my support for them and for everyone advocating for a more inclusive and understanding education.

En una de mis clases, hablamos sobre los falsos cognados, esas palabras que parecen significar lo mismo en inglés y español... ¡pero no lo son! 😱

❌ "Embarazada" NO significa embarrassed; significa pregnant (embarazada).
❌ "Librería" NO es library; significa bookstore (librería).
❌ "Éxito" NO significa exit; significa success (éxito).

💡 ¡Estos pequeños errores pueden cambiar completamente el sentido de una conversación! Entender los falsos amigos te ayudará a mejorar tu inglés y evitar confusiones.

Be careful with false cognates (or false friends) in English! 🚨

In one of my lessons, we discussed false cognates—words that seem to mean the same thing in English and Spanish... but don’t! 😱

❌ "Embarazada" does NOT mean embarrassed; it means pregnant.
❌ "Librería" is NOT a library; it means bookstore.
❌ "Éxito" is NOT exit; it means success.

💡 These small mistakes can completely change the meaning of a conversation! Understanding false friends will help you improve your English and avoid confusion.

The mockery from fellow Filipinos, especially Filipino men, is at its peak, especially if they see native Filipina women with white men, but if they’re Caucasian or Western-looking women posing for a photo like this, would you react the same?

They are not exotic. We, Filipinos, have our own distinct and unique facial features that most of you can’t appreciate. There is nothing to laugh about. You just can’t see the beauty in it because most of you are fixated on western beauty standards.
