The Ship Has Sailed
After standing with the police,
watching these boats wash ashore during the last storm it’s a shame that the boats weren’t able to be saved or salvaged. It was quite the spectacle to behold though, and at least this boat went out with a bang.

Did you know we are celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the launch of the Cement Ship? Do you know why it was built and how it ended up in Aptos? .
Local Historian, Kevin Newhouse () will offer a presentation to answer these questions and to share historic photos taken from the archives of the Aptos History Museum. And to top it off, there will be an actual chair from the dining saloon of the Cement Ship on display! This is a very rare item which most people have never seen before! .
After the presentation, there will be an optional guided history walk to the Seacliff Visitor Center, led by Dick Garwood, where (2019 NEXTies Band of the Year winner) will perform as we gaze upon the actual ship and explore the Visitor Center. .
Sign up now as this event will sell out quick. You do not want to miss this! After all, 100 year anniversaries don't happen very often! .

This is the biggest Orca in North America. Please correct me if I'm mistaken ? This is Lonesome George, swimming right at the boat with a rather large chunk of what I belive is blubber in his mouth. Foggy day, the light was flat but, we had a lot of fun tracking Lonesome George and his buddy Fat Finn for hours one day ! George weighs. 20,000 lb or 9100 kilos plus ! His dorsal fin is 6ft tall or / 3 m. ! Roughly.. 10/16 Big Sur . 👎
