🚨🌾 Texas is on high alert. Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has declared an emergency response after a new invasive pest—the cotton seed bug—was detected in the state.
The bug feeds on developing cotton seeds and fibers, posing a major threat to both cotton production and ornamental industries. And since Texas grows nearly 40% of America’s cotton, the stakes are high.
State officials are now deploying rapid response teams, quarantines, and public reporting efforts to stop the pest before it spreads further.
