Full-bodied, rich, and balanced. The Cabernet gives backbone, the Merlot softens and adds plush fruit, while Montepulciano adds freshness, juiciness, and an Italian earthy-spicy edge. Expect ripe black fruits, plum, maybe violet notes, with a balance between firm tannins (Cabernet) and easy drinkability (Merlot + Montepulciano). Oak aging would add chocolate, vanilla, or to***co complexity.

The 2016 🍷 🇮🇹 Baldetti “Crano” Syrah Cortona is a red wine from Tuscany, Italy, specifically from the Cortona region. It’s a Syrah varietal, known for its full-bodied character and notes of dark fruit, to***co, bacon and smoke. The wine is described as having high tannins and a nice earthy feel, with hints of vanilla and oak.

Medium to long finish, plenty of fruit, with a raisiny after taste.

Assessing a wine by smell consists of two stages. The first is to smell it as soon as it is poured into the glass without any swirling. At this stage, we should detect the strongest and most obvious aromas. The next stage is to swirl the glass in order to release the heavier and more subtle aromas. But as I cannot emphasise enough, don’t swirl the glass too vigorously or for too long, as aromas are volatile and they will just dissipate into the air.
