We had the absolute pleasure of attending a private tasting by AfroGourmets, at Goods & Co. Market and let’s just say.. It was an unforgettable culinary experience, a truly soulful and refreshing celebration of culture, flavour and connection.

From start to finish, it was a well-curated journey across 6 vibrant tasting stations, each one bursting with flavors, stories, and a whole lot of heart. Every dish felt like a personal invitation, crafted with precision, rooted in culture, and finished with love.

🌶️ The sauces? Next level. Each one brought its own taste, from bold and spicy to warm and comforting. Each bite a passport to a different experience. Whether you like a punch of heat or a whisper of sweetness, there was something here to awaken every part of your palate.

🍰 And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, the desserts was the perfect ending to a sensational tasting.

AfroGourmets is without a doubt a welcome and much-needed addition to the vibrant culinary scene here in Thunder Bay. Their blend of their Afro roots with global flair is something special! and we’re beyond excited to see what’s next for this passionate team.

Goodluck to the owners! You’ve won both our hearts and tastebuds.

Stop 2 – Nucci's Bake A Deli 🍩🥪
📍801 Red River Rd

Our sweet tour of Thunder Bay continues! We dropped by Nucci’s Bake A Deli, and it was such a pleasant surprise walking into a space with a wide variety of fresh options right in store.

We had to try their Sally Ann’s, both the traditional and the Persian-style – based on local recommendations, we can definitely see why they’re a popular pick for many. The Persian-style Sally Ann is a unique twist that speaks to Thunder Bay’s love for this local classic. 🙌

✅ P.S. You can grab Persians here too, so if you’re on the hunt for a true Thunder Bay staple, you’re in luck!

Also worth mentioning: their deli section is stacked with a nice selection of savoury options if you’re looking for something beyond the sweet side.

The sun seems to be finally showing up for us, and after surviving that long, cold stretch, we definitely deserve some sweet rewards!

First stop: Sweet Nata

📍 Located inside the Bay Street Mall (270 Bay St),

This charming Portuguese coffee & pastry shop offers a delightful selection of baked treats. We went with the crowd favourite: Pastel de Nata – a perfectly crisp and creamy tart that lived up to the hype.

Price: $2.65

We also tried the Torta – a vanilla Swiss roll filled with cream. Soft, light, and delicious!

We Spent the day soaking up all the sun and goodness at the Thunder Bay Farmers’ Market . Amazing vendors, delicious food options, and a whole lot of heart and soul bringing it all together.

It’s open every Saturday from 10AM–2PM at 954 Huron Venue, definitely worth checking out!

Pro tip: Ask for the jam at Preserved in Thyme (you won’t regret it), grab a samosa on your way out, and have a chat about the beautiful pieces from Uganda being showcased here.

Five years ago, we started the 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿 in memory of Patty, who left us too soon after a heart attack. What began as a way to honor a dear friend has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined—𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Patty was someone who always showed up for others—𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽. And now, thanks to this amazing community, 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀.
