When I first started making low-tox swaps, the beauty side felt overwhelming. I didn’t know where to begin…I just knew I needed to understand what I was putting on my body and if it was really worth it.
I’ve been slowly swapping for the last few years and let me tell you… it does NOT happen overnight! My best advice? Start by scanning what you already use with the Yuka app or EWG. Just learning what’s in your products is a huge first step.
The average woman uses 12 personal care products a day that’s 168+ chemicals daily. Many of these include endocrine disruptors that can mess with hormones, fertility, and even long-term health. The truth is, no one really knows what years of daily exposure to harmful ingredients will do. There are known hormone disruptors in so many products: makeup, lotion, deodorant, shampoo. What if you’re using 5 of those every single day... for 10 years? And what about kids being exposed from such a young age? What will that do over time? No one can tell us the real impact.
For me, it’s not worth the risk. Reducing that toxic load now matters for our health and for the next generation. Every single swap matters more than you think. Over time, those small changes add up to something really big for your health.
