ELECTION RESULTS: Republicans Hold Key Nassau County Offices as Blakeman, Donnelly, and Murray Win Re-Election; Democrats Goosby and Nicks win locally
Nassau County, N.Y. — With more than three-quarters of precincts reporting, Republican incumbents maintained firm control over Nassau County’s top offices Tuesday night, securing victories in several high-profile races including County Executive, District Attorney, Clerk, and Comptroller. Democrats notched key wins in a handful of local contests, but overall results reinforced the GOP’s stronghold in one of Long Island’s most closely watched suburban regions.
Bruce Blakeman Wins Second Term as County Executive
Incumbent Bruce A. Blakeman (RC) secured re-election as Nassau County Executive with 55.49% of the vote (142,484 votes), defeating Democratic challenger Seth I. Koslow, who earned 44.42% (114,052 votes). With approximately 76% of precincts reporting, Blakeman’s victory underscores continued Republican momentum in Nassau County leadership since his first win in 2021.
Anne Donnelly Retains District Attorney’s Seat
In the race for District Attorney, incumbent Anne T. Donnelly (RC) successfully defended her position with 55.26% of the vote (140,992 votes), narrowly outperforming Democratic contender Nicole Aloise, who garnered 44.7% (114,047 votes). Donnelly’s tenure has focused on public safety and combating narcotics—issues that appeared to resonate with county voters.
O’Connell and Phillips Extend GOP Hold on Clerk and Comptroller Offices
Republicans continued their sweep in county offices as Maureen C. O’Connell (RC) won another term as County Clerk with 56.72% (143,542 votes) over Joylette E. Williams (D), who received 43.24% (109,438 votes).
Meanwhile, Elaine R. Phillips (RC) held on to her role as County Comptroller, taking 55.23% (139,837 votes) in a decisive win against Wayne H. Wink Jr. (D).
Town of Hempstead: Ferretti and Murray Lead GOP Slate
In the Town of Hempstead, one of the largest towns in the country, Republicans once again dominated. Supervisor John R. Ferretti (RC) retained his seat with 53.2% (78,264 votes) over Democrat Joe Scianablo, who earned 46.75% (68,784 votes).
Town Clerk Kate Murray (RC) also scored a convincing victory, winning 56.84% of the vote (83,393 votes) against Yveline L. Dalmacy (D), who received 43.08% (63,211 votes).
