3 days in Hokkaido during summer! 🇯🇵☀️
1–5: Our adventure began in Furano, where we visited the iconic lone Christmas tree, strolled through vibrant blooms at Farm Tomita, and met the cutest alpacas at Shikisai no Oka. Summer is truly the best season to enjoy Hokkaido’s endless flower fields!
6: We made our way to Biei Blue Pond, a stunning man made lake glowing in surreal shades of turquoise. Just a short distance away, we admired the beautiful Shirahige Waterfall, where underground streams pour out of the cliffs into the cobalt-blue river below!
7: In Asahikawa, we explored Japan’s first permanent pedestrian only shopping area, filled with nostalgic charm, retro storefronts, and local treats!
8–10: At Asahiyama Zoo, Japan’s northernmost zoo, we had fun interacting with animals in cleverly designed enclosures that let us see them up close in action. The zoo provided umbrellas because it rained!
11: We warmed up with a comforting bowl of Hokkaido soup curry, known for its light, spicy broth and fresh local vegetables!
12: Discovered Seicomart, Hokkaido’s exclusive convenience store chain! You will see them everywhere!
13-14: Foodies, don’t miss Asahikawa Ramen Village for its iconic shoyu ramen, and Toriton Sushi, a popular conveyor belt sushi spot. Arrive early because there are long queues!
15: We also played at Round 1 Stadium in Asahikawa, massive space, no crowds, and tons of games for all ages.
16: In Yubari, we had the juiciest, softest melons of our lives. Seriously, this is the best and finest melons in Japan!
17-18: A visit to the Hills of Buddha was serene and spiritual. The giant stone Buddha, surrounded by fields of lavender, made it one of the most memorable stops.
19: We couldn’t miss checking in at the northernmost Pokémon Center in Japan, dream come true for little (and big) fans!
20: We are already dreaming of returning to Hokkaido in summer to explore even more hidden gems. It’s truly a magical time to visit and the weather is extremely pleasant!
