Want your business to be the top-listed Media Company?
XGGL got its humble beginnings as an experiment in viral marketing. In October 2015, local game store employee, Will Meulenbelt, decided to take a plunge and open a video game lounge in the basement of the store he worked at. It had everything a gamer could want. There were gaming stations with consoles from almost every era of video gaming history. People could come in and pay an entrance fee to try out new games they were considering buying, or relive a classic from their childhood. The only problem is that in the first few months of being open, business was very light. Will needed a way to get word out about the lounge.
Will consulted one of his good friends, Ryan Maglunob. Ryan was a comedian living in the area and had some experience in social media, graphic design and video editing. They decided a way to get word out about the lounge would be to start a YouTube channel and just make weekly videos of them playing games in the lounge. Ryan would also have access to his comedian friends, who would be occasional guests on the channel. Through this and word of mouth going around, business started to pick up. Things were going great.
Within the year, Xtreme G Gaming Lounge became the local hot spot for hanging out and playing video games. Eventually it would attract events such as birthday parties, private events and gaming tournaments, most notably HypeCentral.
At the end of 2018, Will finalized plans to purchase his former employer and became the owner of his own game store, Xtreme G Gaming. With Will being at the helm of two businesses, his attention focused on the store and the lounge was neglected. The channel stopped receiving updates. The lounge remained open, but a mere shell of what it used to be.
