A hypersigil is a term used to describe a feedback loop between an external or extended persona and a primary self. Klintron Finley wrote about Grant Morrison's "hypersigil" concept as as a cybernetic phenomena, first mentioning how Morrison defined hypersigils:

"The 'hypersigil' or 'supersigil' develops the sigil concept beyond the static image and incorporates elements such as characterization, drama, and plot. The hypersigil is a sigil extended through the fourth dimension. My own comic book series The Invisibles was a six-year long sigil in the form of an occult adventure story which consumed and recreated my life during the period of its composition and ex*****on. The hypersigil is an immensely powerful and sometimes dangerous method for actually altering reality in accordance with intent. Results can be remarkable and shocking."

The hypersigil can take the form of a poem, a story, a song, a dance, or any other extended artistic activity you wish to try. This is a newly developed technology so the parameters remain to be explored. It is important to become utterly absorbed in the hypersigil as it unfolds; this requires a high degree of absorption and concentration (which can lead to obsession but so what? You can always banish at the end) like most works of art. The hypersigil is a dynamic miniature model of the magician's universe, a hologram, microcosm, or 'voodoo doll' which can be manipulated in real time to produce changes in the macrocosmic environment of 'real' life".

A sigil (/ˈsɪdʒəl/; pl. sigilla or sigils) is a type of symbol used in magic. The term has usually referred to a type of pictorial signature of a deity or spirit. In modern usage, especially in the context of chaos magic, sigil refers to a symbolic representation of the practitioner's desired outcome.

The term sigil derives from the Latin sigillum, meaning "seal".

In medieval ceremonial magic, the term sigil was commonly used to refer to occult signs which represented various angels and demons which the witch might summon. The magical training books called grimoires often listed pages of such sigils. A particularly well-known list is in The Lesser Key of Solomon, in which the sigils of the 72 princes of the hierarchy of hell are given for the magician's use. Such sigils were considered to be the equivalent of the true name of the spirit and thus granted the magician a measure of control over the beings.

A common method of creating the sigils of certain spirits was to use kameas (magic squares) — the names of the spirits were converted to numbers, which were then located on the magic square. The locations were then connected by lines, forming an abstract figure.

The word sigil... has a long history in Western magic. The members of the Golden Dawn were perfectly familiar with it (″combining the letters, the colours, the attributions and their Synthesis, thou mayest build up a telesmatic Image of a Force. The Sigil shall then serve thee for the tracing of a Current which shall call into action a certain Elemental Force″) and it was used in the making of talismans. The sigil was like a signature or sign of an occult entity.

The use of symbols for magical or cultic purposes has been widespread since at least the Neolithic era. Some examples from other cultures include the yantra from Hindu ta**ra, historical runic magic among the Germanic peoples, or the use of veves in Voudon.

The artist and occultist Austin Osman Spare developed his own unique method of creating and using sigils, which has had a huge effect on modern occultism. Essentially, Spare turned the Medieval practice of using sigils to evoke entities on its head, arguing that such supernatural beings were simply complexes in the unconscious, and could be actively created through the process of sigilization.

The big difference with Spare's method was that he dispensed with pre-existing esoterica and external beliefs, so the sigils were no longer for controlling traditional demons, angels and what-have-you, but instead for controlling forces in the unconscious psyche of the individual operator.

Spare's technique became a cornerstone of chaos magic. It also influenced the artist Brion Gysin, who experimented with combining Spare's sigil method with the traditional form of magic squares:

Calligraphic magick squares were one of the techniques most commonly applied by Gysin. He would reduce a name or an idea to a "glyph" and then write across the paper from right to left, turn the paper and do the same again, and so on, turning the paper around and around to create a multi-dimensional grid... The same techniques and consciously driven functional intention also permeated his paintings. In a very real sense, everything he created was an act of sorcery.

To understand vampirism requires that we have a working understanding of the energy body and the ways vampires interact with it via conduits like blood or psychic connections.
There is a fairly firm consensus between many who work in this current (though by no means a universal one) that vampirism is ultimately a condition and or practice that is directly predicated upon the energy body, and the energy of life itself in one form or another.
This energy is often called by many terms, a few include - chi, vital humors, prana, force or life force, or vitae depending on how much into role playing or pop culture they are.
The idea follows that ALL vampires are technically “energy vampires,” and it is only the medium of exchange which differs between what are typically called sanguinarian vampires and what are called “psi” or “psychic” vampires. Within the psi/psychic vampire category there can be many various versions of that as well.
The sanguinarian vampire, for whatever reason, requires, prefers, or occasionally partakes in direct contact with bodily fluids, usually blood, and for good reason! Blood is a tremendously potent magickal substance, a thing discussed in Become the Maelstrom, and will be discussed again here.
Conversely, the energy or psi vampire feeds more directly through other mediums such as emotion, astral attacks, or some similar practice that allows for the connection of the vampire’s energy body to the target, or donor.
It should be noted that few, if any, sanguinarian vampires need even remotely large quantities of blood to get the energetic benefit they crave. A few drops on the tongue can be plenty. A small incision or use of a diabetic lancet can yield enough to keep such people satiated and happy. This applies to all the sanguinarian vampires I am aware of. That is not to say that the occasional indulgence in more elaborate blood play isn’t a potent experience. Instead it is a pleasure rather than a necessity, and often more indicative of someone with more of a mundane fe**sh than indicative of true vampirism.
This is because the blood itself is not the energy source (though it does contain SOME bioenergy of course), it is rather the best possible conduit or sympathetic connection between the vampire, and the living source of their energy needs. Also, a human being is the best source, this is because our energy is simply more compatible with each other than between other living things. Still, it is not at all impossible or uncommon to “get by” by using animal blood or raw flesh.
It was my own experience that the consumption of raw meat could help when I was exploring my own nature as a vampire, but I learned that my preference was emotional energy and the direct baneful feeding via chakra and energy body attack (be it astral or direct contact).
I digress, by making physical contact with that blood, be it through ingestion or some other physical interaction, the vampire can easily and often unknowingly form an astral link of sorts to the energy body of the target. Then, through a form of spiritual osmosis, the energy of the source will flow into the vampire.
For the sanguinarian vampire, the drinking or contact with blood is like touching the terminals of a battery with a good conductor. The blood acting not unlike a physical jumper cable for psychic energy.
This is may or may not be symbiotic or beneficial to the “donor,” at least not in a direct way. However, it can sometimes in fact manifest itself in a symbiotic way. I have seen more than a few “willing donors” who were in fact psychic vampires who got a “charge” out of being used as a donor in this way.
There is certainly an element of roleplay that goes into blood play these days. This can set up a symbiotic relationship, which gives the “donor” a shot of their own energy, a cheap thrill if nothing else, a sense of belonging and even s*xual fulfillment. To be the prized and favored donor of someone in s*xy vampire clothes, someone attractive with custom made fangs can be a potent rush. It can make you feel special and needed. Many vampires do indeed have deep connections with their preferred donors, and some are exclusive for many reasons, including romantic and s*xual ones. But this exchange need not be intentional. Just think how many blood brothers and sisters who cut their fingers and share blood for a moment are inadvertently coupling their energy bodies and exchanging energy without realizing it?
How many warriors are such bloodthirsty brutes simply because they are literally addicted to the energy exchange of cutting an enemy down and having their blood spilling onto them? Imagine making that psychic connection in the heat of battle and chaos! Imagine the feeling of that energy, how heady and powerful it must feel!
How many serial killers then would fall into this category?
So first and foremost, we need to understand blood to be a carrier and sympathetic conduit through which life energy and magick intent can be transmitted.
Truth be told, blood, though superior, is not unique in this capacity, s*xual fluids are loaded with creative and receptive energies (the male ej*****te is the more creative or influential, while the female s*xual fluids tend to be more receptive and empowering in energy).
But other sympathetic bodily cast offs can also function in this way. From hair and fingernails, to skin flakes, meat, and flesh, and even technically f***s. Yes, even our f***s contain a great deal of dead blood cells and personal matter by the way. Not that I would advocate a vampire trying to feed on some of those things, if for no other reason than the energy will be “flavored” to match the sympathetic nature of those cast offs. To say nothing of the sanitary or even legal ramifications.
Still, any witch or mage worth their incense collection, knows that all these things have a powerful sympathetic connection to the one who it comes from, and this alone can be enough for magick to work.
However, it is living or recently bled BLOOD, which is the standard, and this is because it is the best possible conduit. Particularly when the blood is still fresh upon the flesh and open wound of the donor. This makes the blood a kind of medium, or like soldering a wire together, or as I said before psychic jumper cables.
Blood is a substance that is a liquid with solid material in suspension. It is a functional conductor due to the things contained within it (the salts in particular mean it conducts electricity adequately). Blood contains our DNA in the white blood cells, and it also contains the oxygen and carbon dioxide we inhale and exhale. This “air” was quite literally the stuff of life energy in many ancient cultures. Qi/Chi literally means breath or air in Chinese medicine.
So, by the principles of sympathetic and symbolic magick it is of course entirely proper for blood to be the best physical conductor and carrier of life energy. The “as below” component integrating the physical aspect of our holistic energy body with the spiritual. Thus, it should come as no shock to anyone that blood is a favorite way to practice vampiric feeding for many people. Especially those with a less well-developed sense of spiritual energy.

The last two sources can only happen for humans who have taken up the Vampyric Way. The first, vampirism, is the drawing of energy from one’s biological self, a “battery,” an egregore, or another human. The first sort—summoning energy from one’s body to deal with a trying psychological state—is common enough. It is hard on the body, and many humans treat their body with intoxicants to further this process, which is in general a bad idea. The creation of a battery to store energy is a basic form of Vampyric work and will be discussed later. Egregores can be created by a velvet*1 of Vampyres to act as a group storage and healing device, but more often egregores are attacked. A group of persons seeking you harm can have their harmful group spirit drained of force; however, this is an advanced technique and a dangerous one—since energy is laced with the intent of its creators. A group that supports or loves you (such as your family) may be a source of energy in time of emergency, but ethically any energy taken thusly must be repaid quickly and with interest. One can harvest energy from others by causing fear, desire, or wonder in them—or one may use a direct attack. The direct attack is the fearsome art. One can unravel the energy layers of a human opponent and absorb them. Like carrying a legal gun in the United States, it is not casual or fun, and we may hope it is never used. Early in their careers Vampyres may use this skill in a lighthearted fashion until the first time they see results—either in their target or in themselves—and then one of three things occurs: they freak out and run as far from these practices as they can, they decide on developing a strong moral code, or they play at being a gunslinger until someone takes them down. “Wonder”—mystical awe—does not happen for all humans. Wonder is the reaction of seeing energy at work in the objective universe. Its most common form is in the pleasant shock of observing synchronicities. As energy accumulates, synchronicities become more common, it becomes a matter of discipline to observe them and to avoid explaining them away. At a higher orbit one can begin to manifest synchronicities as the result of magickal workings, and it becomes necessary to give them respect and neither deny them nor explain them away. The Vampyre will also notice how synchronicities fail to manifest around people with terminal energy blockage. Dream work is another source of wonder and will be dealt with more fully later. To many, the word submission may seem even more surprising. In B**M, submissive participants have power because not only do they determine the limits of a scene, but they also hold the safe words. But a deeper idea is embedded here. When my barber trims my beard and hair, I am clearly submissive, sitting quietly in a chair—yet my Will is being done. If a dentist or surgeon acts upon me, my Will is likewise in control. The acceptance of limits—whether you’re wearing a ball gag or lying still for waxing—is a very powerful way to force the social parasite to give up power. But, as with taboo breaking, if overdone it changes from energy source to compulsion. If a human is at an especially low ebb, he or she can begin to build up energy by following a very precise ritual in hygiene or while going to bed—in effect submitting to heror himself. The word dominance may call up visions of B**M. Whereas both sides of that kink are usable for Vampyric Work, the simple “will to power” that Nietzsche speaks of is a source of energy. Power itself has little energy, so a billionaire’s sin running his real estate empire has no special energy and, in fact, may have the energetic vulnerability of insecurity or the imposter syndrome. However, the human that begins at the lowest ranks and becomes a boss has a substantial source of energy. The outer world reflects the growing sovereignty of the inner one. Changing landscape or public policy is a great source of energy. Of course, mindless power provides lesser energy than rulership. Dominance must be allied with telos. The energy that comes from an aesthetic source such as music, painting, or architecture is heavily filtered by education, culture, and the circumstances of presentation. What works for you may not work for your friend. However, actively seeking to expand your taste by going to museums, gallery openings, or seeking outside of your culture and class will open you to new sources of energy. The thrill of creating art is a way to add new layers of energy to one’s energy being. Three guidelines must be present—it must be made intense, it must not harm or limit any others, and it must be self-expressive. In fact, if all of your k**a is based on fantasies involving an unobtainable celebrity, you are providing energy to him/her/them. Being an object of desire is a form of dominance. Taboo breaking is a major source of power early in a Vampyre’s career. Large amounts of energy are held in the social parasite. Breaking its rules releases huge energy packets. Symbolic evil from flipping off the boss when he’s not looking to trampling a consecrated wafer during a Black Mass remind the Vampyric self that it is free. Many humans fall into the trap of compulsion, however. They need the rules to be broken every time. The thrill of wearing a black T-shirt that advertises a band that your parents hate may be liberating when you’re sixteen but a draining addiction when you’re fifty-six. Taboo breaking also requires a strong ethical sense—kinky s*x with a consenting adult is very different from s*x with a minor. Playing at being a N**i in your home is very different from expressing those attitudes in the voting booth. The social parasite loves rules, and it’s willing—far too willing—to learn any set of rules. Taboo breaking is both powerful and limiting (like fear). (Energy energy of the vampyre p. 53)

As Mr. Lovecraft noted, “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” Fear energizes, as in the example of the near miss of an auto accident mentioned earlier. Activities that rely on fear—from riding roller coasters to hang gliding—are popular among Vampyres. However, this is a dangerous source of energy: what scares you one month may bore you the next. And trusting the Vampyric self to save you every time is a dangerous gamble. Causing fear in others is a form of dominance; sharing fear is a form of submission. The Vampyre can draw energy directly from the natural world. The environments that feed him or her tend toward the sublime (as the Romantics used to say); that is, they balance fascination and terror—the edge of a canyon, water crashing on rocks, saguaros in bloom in 100°-plus deserts. Areas that provide solitude are particularly powerful. Here the Vampyre can literally breathe out bad/stale energy and breathe in the good.
