ANOTHER LENI PR DISASTER

Leni Robredo’s public persona is like the gift that keeps on giving. Every single time she steps out, releases a statement or does anything at all for that matter, it always becomes a comical mess. It would be too easy to put all the blame on her but the truth is that everyone around her adds to all her embarassing PR disasters.

This book is yet another tragic misstep in her branding. What I can only imagine was supposed to be a celebration of tributary works of art from Pink sycophants has become one more occasion that requires immediate damage control.

Leni Robredo Cultural Revolution. The title seems very much in keeping with her campaign catchphrase “radikal magmahal”. But what Kakampinks hoped would pass for a witty play on words instead evoked, for those of us who at least have a high school level knowledge of world history, one of the darkest moments in China.

The Cultural Revolution in world history happened from 1966 to 1976 in China. Mao Zedong did a national purge. The historical accounts of the death toll range from hundreds of thousands to millions. Though the exact number is unknown, it is fact that the Red Army committed genocide in the name of communism. The Cultural Revolution’s aim was to obliterate the elements and effects of capitalism and Chinese traditions. This is a classic case of historical distortion and revision. They attempted to erase China’s imperial past and replace it with one that started with a people led revolution.

Hmm. Sound familiar?

Now. Question. Is this what the Kakampinks really wanted to say about Leni Robredo with this book? If so, the message is loud and clear.

Let’s not forget this until the next elections.
