Breaking Bad(2008—2013)
'Fly', on the surface seems an out of the blue episode, distant from where the story is going, but is a crucial episode in that it studies the characters deeply through an event. It opens up Walt's insecurities and anxiousness to Jesse and to the audience in a visual manner instead of a verbal one.

Released in between a fast paced timeline involving multiple threats to the lead protagonist, this episode delves deeply into the character's psyche about the events that are happening in his life.

The fly is a metaphor for all the threats Walt is facing in his life and him not being able to cope with the fly is a metaphor to his helplessness in the whole situation as he cannot control either Gus or Jesse.

It is a monumental episode for the writers too as they faced a budget issue from the producers at the time and hence a decision was taken to write an episode that takes place at a single location.
It is beautiful to know how a certain hurdle or limitation can become a blessing in disguise and have one think out of the box.
