I will never forget this snowy day in Bedstuy Brooklyn, many moons ago before the internet. My mother, my sister and I were speed walking to Nostrand ave to catch the train to Hoyt and Schermerhorn my fav stop back then, Downtown = Clothes and Kicks....
I noticed we were in a little rush, mom says "you better come on Malik if you want these damn Timbs" (mac & cheeses). Frozen boogers, ice in my sherling fur, Roshinda Selvon talking about "mommy my scarf flew off", we right there on Nevins st. Albee Square right there, as they went for the scarf i looked up and no lie it had to be 1000 plus ppl every one of em had a bag with that tree on it....some had two....
My adolescent heart jumped, its cool me mommy and shinda made it but something wasnt right it was almost empty, arabs lokking mad happy, some kids crying, having temper tantrums, what the hell happened???
Very qu**ky i understood there was not one pair of construction timbs left in the mall, I looked at my mother like it was all her fault, head went down shoulders slumped im devastated 🤬
