Olivia studied guitar and opera singing since early. after almost a decade at the National Conservatory of Music, she was tired of the classical structure and decided to explore new ways of using her voice. while closing one door, another has opened: in 2019, she met Jorge Hernández, who invited her to be part of the project 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲. from there, she met other people & formats, which brought her to this project.

Ranieri, a dreamer guitarist from Brazil, arrived to Lisbon in order to dedicate himself to his new life as barber and professional musician. started his music journey in Brazil as guitarist in a band, playing from rock n’ roll, to blues, and hard rock. when in portugal, dedicated himself to the study of the popular classic guitar, opening his research through latin, african & folk rhythms. in 2020, after crossing paths with Olivia, ended up also joining the project 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲.

𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗮, 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗮. 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗩𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲.

Vasco learnt to play the bass and studied it intuitively. years later, decided to start his professional career in jazz and went to Hot Club Portugal. he’s a lover of his own art, which enjoys to explore the sound of the instrument. joined this project for the interest in the different roots that belapapaya brings together.

Vicente is the master of percussion, also graduated from the National Conservatory of Music. he always has been curious to explore different styles of percussion and this project is another way of him to do that. he currently studies at the Superior National Academy of Orchestra.

𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁. 𝘀𝗼, 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲.

𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗔 𝗘𝗣

the first EP by the portuguese band Belapapaya is about 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 and the 𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 between the four members who met through music.

their main themes are 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹.

the presence of 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 and 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 throughout the songs involve us in a recipe that is both culinary and loving.

musically, 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀 and 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘀 shine through, in a mixture of 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗼-𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 & 𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.

the 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 was designed by the artist Claire Françoise Fressynet and it represents 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲.

this EP has the length of 𝟮𝟲 𝗺𝗶𝗻 and it’s composed of 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀, from which the single is ‘𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲’.

Jorge Hernández is an independent Mexican composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and producer, currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. Jorge founded and leads two music projects, GlowStone Leaf Orchestra & Cenzontle.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 is the first album that merges both of the musician’s projects in one piece, and is divided in two parts:

🤍 𝗣𝘁. 𝗜 will be released under GlowStone Leaf Orchestra 🤍 𝗣𝘁. 𝗜𝗜 will be released under Cenzontle.

In Portuguese and Spanish, Constante means constant, continuous, persistent. Something unchanging and sustained, just as Jorge Hernández’s creative drive through the past 13 years of music making that brought him to complete this collection of 16 songs that come to be his 17th album. Constante is a homemade album born from the sole and pure desire of creation. Being creativity its main topic, Constante tells stories of several characters and their creative being. One of them discovers nature and its unique input on the creative soul; others find about creativity stimulated by sexual exploration, travelling, loss, fear, love or by just daydreaming at the windowsill. Constante is about self questioning, wondering, asking. It is about truth, the truth within. It is about lessons and tricks on saving memories from wearing out. A little bit of contradiction against its own name, this album does not incur a constant style, but on a constant change in sound. Ambient, Experimental, Folk, Cumbia, Latin, Hip Hop, Beats, Minimal and Spoken Word are some of the genres in which Jorge Hernández makes its feelings and ideas become sound. Constante is Jorge Hernández’s celebration of constant changing and sustained, steady love for creation. Finally, Constante is also a dog born from José Saramago’s mind, constantly appearing in several of his books.
