A man is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today, Friday 5th July, after a reported incident in Middlesbrough whereby an officer was injured during an arrest following suspected class A drug dealing.

An officer suffered a broken wrist as a man reportedly attempted to make off from police on an off-road bike around 3pm on Wednesday 3rd July on Park Vale Road. The officer received treatment at James Cook University Hospital and is now recovering.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and no licence or insurance.

A closure order was granted for a property in the Newport ward of Middlesbrough on Friday 7th June after Cleveland Police and the local authority applied at Teesside Magistrates Court.

The property on Worcester Street has been closed for three months following reports of violence and disorder; including altercations spilling into the street, weapons recovered and drugs activity.

The tenant will now not be able to return to the property for at least three months.

Officers also made representations to extend a further closure order which was granted in March this year, at a property on Jubilee Street after concerns were raised by residents in the area around serious crime and disorder, nuisance and drugs supply.

This extension was granted, and it will therefore remain closed for a further three months.

🗣️ Inspector Darren Birkett from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “As always we take complaints very seriously and listen to our local communities. Using all tools available to us in operational policing, we will look to take action against those who cause misery in our communities.

“It is unacceptable that people cause others to live in fear, and now we have positive outcomes at court which have allowed us to remove those people from disrupting the lives of law-abiding people.

“I would urge anyone who wishes to raise concerns about tenants at a property who may be causing crime and antisocial behaviour in their area, to contact Cleveland Police on 101.”

Hartlepool RNLI is calling on members of the public to support the RNLI’s Mayday fundraising campaign by signing up to take part in a Mayday Mile and complete the challenge of covering a mile a day throughout May.

Hartlepool RNLI puts out its own Mayday call to help raise vital funds
Hartlepool RNLI is calling on members of the public to support the RNLI’s Mayday fundraising campaign by signing up to take part in a Mayday Mile and complete the challenge of covering a mile a day throughout May.
The RNLI has revealed its lifeboats launched over 9,100 times in 2023. Funds raised will help support the charity’s vital lifesaving work, including the provision of important training and kit for the volunteer lifeboat crews who readily risk their own lives to save others whenever the call for help comes in.

Hartlepool RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Chris Hornsey said: ‘Summer is the busiest time of year for the RNLI, with thousands of people at risk of getting into danger by the water. Having recently marked the RNLI’s 200th anniversary, we’re putting out our call for help to raise the funds which will help keep our lifesaving service going today and into the future.

‘As a charity we rely on the generosity of the public to take part in events like the Mayday Mile and raise the funds that allow us to be there when we’re needed most.’

The RNLI’s Mayday fundraiser begins on Monday 1 May and will run for the whole month across the UK and Ireland.

Sign up for the Mayday Mile now and find out more at rnli.org/ HYPERLINK "https://rnli.org/SupportMayday"SupportMayday
