In the early hours of Sunday, August 3, The Fargo Police Department responded to two separate shooting incidents. The first occurred at approximately 1:56 a.m. in the 50 block of Broadway. In the downtown incident, three adults sustained gunshot wounds — one victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, one remains in critical condition and one sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 2:26 a.m., officers responded to a second incident in the 4700 block of 16th Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers located one individual deceased. No other injuries were reported.

Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney stated, “We all awoke this morning to shocking developments in Fargo. While we are assuredly shaken, I want to reiterate that Fargo is a safe community with a steadfast, dedicated and well-equipped police force that will tirelessly investigate these homicides. I am asking for the public’s patience as FPD does its work by uncovering the facts and not the hype. Fargo remains a unified community that values safety, cares about one another and stands together in trying teams.”

Police Chief Dave Zibolski added, “A significant amount of work is underway to gather evidence, conduct interviews and determine the sequence of events that led to this incident. We understand the community wants answers, and we’re committed to doing the work needed. Our detectives are actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence. We continue to encourage anyone with information to come forward so we can hold those involved accountable.”

The Fargo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating both incidents. At this time, it is unknown whether the shootings are connected. Detectives are working to determine any potential links between them.

Anyone with information that may assist in either investigation is encouraged to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701.451.7660. Anonymous tips may be submitted by texting the keyword FARGOPD and the tip to 847411.

Huey Clay Lewis, Jr., 46, of Waverly MN has now been charged with 1st and 4th degree drug possession in the May 25 incident.

Charges say Lewis was pulled over by State Patrol in north Minneapolis for driving conduct (3 U-turns and squealing tires) and equipment violations near Cliff n Norm's bar. The Trooper smelled alcohol, and Lewis was removed from the car to perform field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment. Lewis also blew a .102 on a PBT.

Lewis was arrested and a search of the vehicle ensued, where 99 field-test positive M**A tablets and a large amount of cash in the center console were found.

Also found in the vehicle was a six-pack of beer on the rear driver’s side passenger seat with two bottles remaining. A bag on the passenger floorboard that was within reach of Lewis contained an electronic scale with white powder residue on it; a plastic spoon; sandwich bags; and a plastic store bag tied at the top. Inside the plastic store bag, the Trooper found two separate sandwich bags of 124.5 grams and 62.1 grams of field-tested positive co***ne (nearly 1/2 lb.). Troopers recovered two phones from Lewis and the car.

Lewis has a prior drug conviction. He remains in custody on $100,000 bail and makes his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Glen Albert Lotthammer, 68, of Raymond MN and a reported school bus driver in Kandiyohi County has been charged with six felony counts related to alleged child p**n possession and dissemination, some counts involving minors under age 14.

Charges say the investigation began following a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about 40 child p**n images being uploaded and/or shared over the internet and involved an IP address belonging to Lotthammer.

Detectives examined the images that reportedly showed multiple s*xual images of a prepubescent minor boy and other images of juvenile males between six to thirteen years old.

A search warrant was obtained for Lotthammer's residence and several electronic devices were seized. Based an investigator's examination of the items, there were 682 images of suspected child p**nography found on six different devices. The complaint describes several of the images that involve minor boys under age 13, some as young as approximately 6-years-old, involved in s*x acts, some involving adults with the minors.

The complaint notes that after Lotthammer read the search warrant, he stated he "wouldn’t be able to drive a bus anymore." He declined to speak with law enforcement at the time and was arrested.

Lotthammer was conditionally released on zero bail and is out of custody. His next hearing is scheduled for July 16 in Kandiyohi County.
