Thank God
Update- At 5:15pm, Henderson 911 Emergency Communications received an anonymous call saying a small girl had just been abducted by a white male in a white work van. The caller said it happened in the 1200 block of Loeb. Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate. While officers were responding, a second 911 call came in from a home on that block saying their granddaughter had just been taken in a white van. These calls prompted a large law enforcement response and a massive social media campaign by concerned residents across the tri-state.
Fortunately, an HPD officer located the girl unharmed not far from the original response address. After speaking with her, it was determined she had not been abducted and she had not been in any danger.
We have identified the original caller and we believe they contacted the family after calling 911. The family called 911 and relayed the information that had been shared with them. This is a reasonable reaction based on what they were told.
We are in contact with the original caller to see what exactly they saw that led them to the believe they witnessed an abduction involving the girl and the previously described suspect and vehicle. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed in this incident.
We cannot thank our community enough for the outpouring of support and the sharing of information on their social media pages.
Update- Henderson Police Officer has located the little girl.
We will release additional updates as soon as more information becomes available.
